Hello from Hootie (Intro & loss mentioned)

Hello Ladies,

I have been pretty active on the TTGP board, but was scared to make the jump here. Guess it makes it more real. We had a loss in September, and we only knew of the pregnancy a week before the loss. For a while I didn't believe I was allowed to be as upset as I was because it was a short time. But feelings are what they are, not wrong or right. And I still struggle with it more often than not.

Anyhoo. No luck since then but it hasn't been too long. My OB ran a couple small tests during my annual and found I had low progesterone so I'll be starting 100mg oral progesterone 3 times a day after O this cycle. LOVED the info in the newbie blog on progesterone and all the other meds/vitamins. Good resource.

Hope to have some laughs with you all. And if anyone has experience with oral progesterone, would like to hear about it.

Hi! I'm also a newbie and your loss sounds similar to mine. I got a BFP and less than a week later lost it. I think a loss is a loss. We were devastated too so, your feelings (IMO) are normal

Your OB sounds nice, I'm currently OB hunting because I had crappy staff and mean nurses deliver the news of my inevitable loss (my beta went down) anyway welcome and Best of luck to you!

I have oral progesterone experience. Unfortunately it isn't great (if you want success stories go to Pregnant After a Loss where all our grads are - there are plenty of good stories). I was put on oral progesterone last cycle. I took it 200mg 2x daily. It will give you a total MF when it comes to symptoms, which can be a pain. Unfortunately the only cycle I took oral progesterone so far was a chemical pregnancy. Did your doctors give you any instructions about when to stop? Some women get AF while on progesterone but others need to stop it to get AF - if, of course, you are waiting for AF. Hopefully you won't be.

Apologies... I just more wanted to know of the things to expect like side effects (headaches, fake MF symptoms). I have a short LP so far at 9 or 10 days, so I'm hoping it lengthens it just a bit. I would also really like for the hot flashes and self-esteem killing acne to lighten up too maybe.

Good point. I have no clue when I'm supposed to stop the progesterone. I assumed when AF appeared. Will call my OB to check on that one. Thanks for the tip.

I am sorry for your loss. I agree with PPs. You are allowed to hurt no matter the length. I know I definitely felt guilty for grieving after hearing some of the wonderful ladies' on this board later losses. But never be ashamed of your feelings or afraid to have them. Hugs. Welcome to the board.

Yeah, I do love my OB... but she straight offered me unmonitored clomid. So thank god for the girls on TTGP and all their warnings prior that that is a no-no. My OB is great at what she does, but they don't know jack about reproductive stuff from everything I've heard. I will give the progesterone some time and if it doesn't work then we will see an RE my friend used.

I don't have any experience with oral progesterone but I have had progesterone supplements. It definitely does give you MF.  I am curious about the hot flashes that you said you were having. Did you OB test your estrogen level? I know hot flashes can be caused by low estrogen. Have you had cycle day 3 blood work done (FSH, estrodial, LH, and prolactin) when the OB did the other testing?

I have not had CD3 testing done yet. She only did the 7DPO for testosterone, progesterone, and TSH (I had a complete thyroidectomy). I happened to have my annual on 7DPO so she offered the testing. My progesterone was 8, so she thought the progesterone would be a small step to try. I'm only on cycle 5 so I figured I might wait a few more cycles before getting more testing or scheduling with the RE. I know I'm supposed to wait a year, but the other symptoms are, at times, affecting my life.

DH wants me to call the RE if no positive this cycle because I've been so out of whack since the CP. I don't know.

So sorry for your loss and that you find yourself here. I also had very low progesterone and was taking supplements starting at 7 weeks but it ended in a MMC that we didn't discover til 3 months. It def has some not so great side effects but its worth it in the long run I think.
