xp: new to this board, desperate for an answer

Hello! I've posted on several boards but I'm new to this one! I have a question about low progesterone levels. A little bit of background:

I got pregnant in May 2010 and miscarried at 6 weeks. I got pregnant again in October 2010 and the dr said I had low progesterone levels so for the first trimester I took pills and now have a happy and healthy 2.5 year old. I had a chemical pregnancy at the end of 2011 then got pregnant in June 2012 and took progesterone again for the first trimester and now have an 8 month old.

My question is, if you have low progesterone for one or more pregnancies, will you always have low progesterone levels with each pregnancy afterwards? I just took a home test and found out I am pregnant again, if all goes well this will be our last child, but I don't have insurance right now and it takes about 7-14 days to get medicare in my state. I won't be able to go to the dr or get my levels checked until then and am worried I'll miscarry before then because I'm not sure how far along I am right now.

No clue on the progesterone, but in my state if you apply for public health assistance (and qualify) they back date your start date based on when you apply. If you're pretty sure you will qualify then apply for health assistance and make your dr appt, and when you get there let them know the insurance situation.

You can also call and ask the people who work at your public health assistance office, they would know about back dating if you qualify.

They may just prescribe to be on the safe side. Ditto GM on looking into free clinics. Or if all else fails, I suppose you could look into paying OOP for your initial visit.

My husband makes quite a bit of money, but after taxes, rent, utilities, food, gas, car payment etc. We can't afford insurance. (Thank you Obama!)

So please, before you ask those questions, think about how much some people might have to pay to afford insurance. Think about the hard working Americans that have multiple jobs, but STILL aren't privileged with insurance.

Not everyone without insurance is in the same boat as you and your family. There are plenty of people who rely on the government to fund their healthcare. That's why your husband can't afford insurance.

So do you plan to pay out of pocket for your maternity care?

I am covered under state insurance, but we pay out of pocket for everything we can first.

We are not the kind of people to rely on the government for anything. Hence the reason my husband works 2 jobs.

Where we live you have to make 50k just to break even. Which in most places is A LOT of money. Here it's the equivelant of making 20k. It's ridiculous. And most employers only pay minimum wage.
