Messy eater

I've been using dr brown bottles since dd was born. She's now 6 weeks. I wasn't having problems until the last couple of days.. It goes everywhere! All down her chin and in the creases of her neck. Yuck! I know a little bit is normal.. But the bib and her are soaked after feeding now... Is it her suction that is causing this? Anyone recommend any other bottles?
It's just weird that it's been fine and now all the sudden it's different. Suggestions? Thanks ladies!

Re: Messy eater

  • Dr. brown bottles work the best for my LO. I've never noticed much leakage but I'm sure that's normal with babies. Sometimes they eat lazier than other times. Dr. brown has a a pretty slow flow nipple so I can't imagine the issue being a fast flow nipple.

  • This happens when I BF!  I tuck a burp cloth in bra, so I don't have to change every time I feed LO.  Our LO is a neater eater with the bottle then the breast.  We are using Avent bottles, but I have not tired any others.

  • I just bought Dr Brown bottles for my 7 week DD tonight in hopes of helping solve some problems. She's only eaten out of em once, but I had the same problem! I was just coming to see if anyone had posted about it. She leaked like crazy! She was really tired, though, so I'll be anxious to see if it keeps up tomorrow or if it's better when she's a little more awake/hungry. GL.

  • Our LO is barely over two weeks but I suspect it's more the baby than the bottle. We have Avent, Medela, and Playtex bottles and we have the same issue with all of them. He also gets milk everywhere when he is at the breast. We even have a Medela Calma paced feeding nipple and that's not much better than any of the others.
