stroller rec?

we will be traveling out of state to see family for thanksgiving and christmas, and my mom has offered to purchase a smaller stroller that she and my mil can keep at their houses (they live in the same town).  does anyone have any good recs for a smaller, less expensive, but still good quality stroller?  i guess they are called umbrella strollers?

it would probably be mostly used if we go shopping or run any errands.  it would be nice if its something that he could use for a little while, so we wouldn't feel like we had to bring our larger stroller every time we visit.

he will be 5 months at thanksgiving, is that too early for an umbrella stroller?  he is really good at holding his head steady, and he's starting to be able to sit for very short periods of time unassisted.

Re: stroller rec?

  • I don't have any specific recommendations but I'd say go with a light weight stroller vs a true umbrella stroller.  They look similar but hold up a lot better, have a basket, etc.  We have a Graco that they no longer make but I like it a lot because it still reclines.

  • The citymini is nice and light. I can lift and fold it with one hand while holding Josh in the other.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • thanks!  i will go look up lightway strollers.  glad i asked, didn't know there was an alternative to umbrella strollers!

i have the britax b-agile, and love it, but was looking for something in the $50-$75 range since it will not be used all that often.  i would just bring our stroller, but space is always limited in the car, and sometimes we fly...

I belive a lot of people recommended the Chicco lightway? I don't have it, but have it in my memory if we do decide we need one like that.

We have this and LOVE it! Compact and not too heavy. We have the liteway plus where you can attach the carseat too. It is one of the best purchases we made!
  • what about something like the first years ignite stroller?  that's about the price range i was thinking.  since my mom will be buying it, i'd prefer to tell her a store/brand, vs having her trying to find something used.
