Consistent Cramping....Feel Like AF is Coming

I just found out that I was 4 weeks pregnant after having typical PMS symptoms (cramps, bloating, etc) but no period.  Two BFPs later, it was official.  However, I still feel like AF is coming.  I’m just crampy pretty much all the time.  It’s not like period cramps, more of a really annoying dull ache that even wakes me up at night.  I haven’t been spotting at all, but I’m really worried.  Are these cramps normal?  Should I be worried about a miscarriage or an etopic pregnancy?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Re: Consistent Cramping....Feel Like AF is Coming

  • I wouldn't worry unless you see bright red blood. I have had a miscarriage and the cramping was stronger than af for me. I am 6 weeks 5 days now and just saw the little heart beat yesterday. Around 4 weeks I kept waiting to take a test because it felt like af was coming to me too! I swore it felt just like it!

  • I've had cramping also, a dull ache in my lower abdomen, pretty much everyday. No blood though. Some people say that the "cramping" is just a sign of the baby growing.

  • 6 weeks 5 days here... I have consistent dull cramps too. I coughed the other day and felt like I pulled a ligament. lol.
  • Yep, had period like cramps all the time for the first week. I still have them every once in a while now. Completely normal.

  • I have the same but brown spotting has started today-can be normal but can also be sign of early mc so I'm hoping all is ok :-( stressful!!
  • I'm 6 weeks and a 4 days --- I have had "mild" cramping on and off. Also, I've had some sharper pelvic pains that feel like ligaments stretching. My sister assures me this is relatively normal.
  • That's exactly how I felt with both my pregnancies. Cramping without bleeding is totally normal.

  • I was told that part of the cramping you'll feel early on is the mucous plug forming. Guess that could contribute to it. And yeah, ligaments stretching. I rushed to the doctor because I almost doubled over at target a few weeks back from bending over to reach for something, and she said no big deal.
  • I've been getting that the past few days and I'm almost out of my first trimester. I had the same thing on and off since my bfp. Not to worry

    It's a BOY

  • I didn't find out I was pregnant until over 5 weeks because of that exact same reason, I always felt like I was getting my period at any minute. Uterus is stretchin' and getting ready! It should go away in the next week or so.

  • Does the cramping go away? I am 6 weeks 6 days and the cramping has stopped - worries me. First ultrasound on Monday.
  • I'm having it too. It's so annoying. I had to use my heating pad last night. My LP last month was 16 days and I'm on 16DPO so I'm super nervous AF is going to come. I actually did have spotting on 13 DPO but it has cleared up. We just have to keep remember that cramping is normal!

  • I've had the brown spotting on and off for a week now...with light cramping/aches. Very worried, midwife says just have to wait and see
  • Hmmm midwife yesterday said not to worry unless turns to fresh blood...so today I went to the toilet and it's changed from brown to fresher looking...not red as such but I think it's only a matter of time
  • Cramping is normal all throughout pregnancy as long as its not a sharp shooting paint (like the kind that would put you in your knees in tears screaming) or followed by bleeding.  The ligaments near your uterus will be stretching all throughout your pregnancy to make room for the growing baby.  Also, during early pregnancy implantation could still be taking place.

Try taking a warm bath (Under 100 degrees) to help soothe the aches and do some prenatal stretching to help.

Having had a miscarriage I can tell you as long as it is brown old blood and not bright red blood you should be okay. Spotting and cramping do happen together sometimes as long as it is not bright red.

Try not to stress that can make it worse.
  • I had cramping until about 8 weeks or so. The doctor advised it was my uterus stretching and the mucous plug forming. He said if I started bleeding to come right in. I'm 11 weeks now.

  • It's likely your uterus expanding, etc. Totally normal in most cases. If you start having any bright red blood I would place a call into your doc.

  • cramping without fresh blood is okay, I get those little dull pains here and there. I have had a miscarriage and those cramps were definitely noticeably painful and a bit worse than my normal AF cramps.

  • I am 5 weeks 2 days and I have been cramping since before I found out. Wednesday I spotted a few times like a normal color blood and I about lost it but, since then just cramping. I am still worried I am gonna loose my little bean.
  • Tonight I'm just trying to relax and not worry, but every time I go to pee, when I wipe it's getting redder and fresher each time, and pains are like start of AF. I think this is it starting :(
It's Saturday night so only option is to sit tight or go to a&e. I know that if it's bad news there's nothing they can do so just going to see how it develops and if I start to lose excessive blood will head to the hospital. Very sad but what will be will be...

  • When I had my MC, it started out as light spotting then ended up being almost like period like bleeding. My doc said don't go to the ER unless its filling up 1 pad in an hour. I know its really hard but just try and rest and call the doctor in the morning. you will know if your having a MC, its kinda painful. Good luck!

  • I have the exact same thing. Supposedly it's your womb slowly stretching to accommodate a growing baby down the line. Last night I yelled at my uterus, "Stop growing so damn much." DH got a good kick out of that.
