Sinus medicine. Help!

I'm 30 weeks along and I'm super close to my appointment to get my wisdom teeth taken out next week but I am in so much pain! They are causing a ton of pressure and I wake up with headaches every morning because of it, so I'm wondering what the best medicine to take so I can sleep through the night/relieves sinus pressure.

Re: Sinus medicine. Help!

  • I don't know if it causes drowsiness but I was told to take Sudafed when I was very sick and congested at 39 weeks and when I went into labor a couple days later.
Do you have a 24 hr nurse line you can call? I'd do that. Or if its not too late ask a pharmacist. Goodluck! :)

  • Wow are you getting your wisdom teeth out while pregnant?

  • Yeah - the tooth that they are taking out has already come through before the pregnancy but now that I'm pregnant they believe it's come through faster so they don't have to put me under for the procedure but just numb the area. It's been causing so much pain/headaches/earaches that I'm ready for this sucker to come out.

I've been trying sudafed which has helped a lot but I think I needed something to take to help me sleep. Sudafed was keeping me awake at night.

I don't think you are supposed to be taking anything with pseudoephedrine in it, which I thought Sudafed contained. Have you tried just taking Tylenol? Also maybe try a saline nose spray to help clean out your sinuses.

  • Ugh----I went through something similar when I was preg and that sucks so badly.  I feel so bad for you.  Have you tried heat packs for the sinuses and doing a neti-pot type of thing?  That seemed to help a bit and also used that Ayr (not sure how its spelled) spray in the nose--it's just saline.  And some tylenol of course as needed.
  • How about Benadryl? My DR said I could take that for my allergies. Good luck with your teeth/allergies!
  • You can take tylonol pm or Benadryl. They are the same thing.
  • Benadryl and sudafed
