Medela Calma Bottle

Hi Ladies,
I bought the Medela Calma Bottle today to give breastmilk to my little one. She is 13 weeks old today and we habe been supplementing with formula since week 5. I am now trying to supplement with my own freezer stash . Obviously due to formula she is now used to a lot of milk in a short time. This is why I bought the medela calma- but she just drank 2.5 oz in less than 5 min. Isnt it supposed to be tough for her? Shouldnt this nipple make her work harder? I am lost...
I appreciate your thoughts on this!

Re: Medela Calma Bottle

  • I switched to doc browns preemie nipples. It slowed DS a bit. I have a stronger flow so I think he's just a stronger sucker...

  • I've been encouraged to never use the Calma nipple b/c it encourages hard sucking rather than nursing. The point isn't to make eating hard, but to have the method similar to that if nursing. Thus, a wide based, slow flow nipple (Playtex Natural Latch is what we use) is recommended.
