A friend of mine from college posted one of those "30 days of thankfulness thing."  This morning she wrote that she is thankful for coffee and bloody marys.  She has a two-month-old, so, preach it sister.

Some dude we know from college responded with two links: an article about how caffeine affects breastmilk, and a LLL website about the effects of alcohol on breastmilk.

The kicker: this girl is a nurse.  In the US Navy.  I think she is pretty well informed about alcohol, caffeine, and breastmilk.

Oh hell no! I enjoyed my coffee (LOTS of coffee in those first few months) and my wine even when I was BFing. The lactation consultant at my hospital said "safe to drive, safe to nurse!", so that's what I went by! DS is fine!

Oh, her response was GOLD. She said that she'd remind her kid that he was supposed to be addicted to caffeine after his usual 10 hours of sleep that night, and that they'd switch his evening beer to a light brew.
