So last Friday my dog knocked me down and this Friday I have a tick stuck in my back (I have woods behind my house). My husband tried to pull it out but only half came out. I have a call into my primary doctor to see what to do- I am terrified of getting Lyme while pregnant seriously, one normal weekend would be nice. The site hurts- I thought I got a blister from my bra so I had husband check look when I got home. It's always something!

Yikes! I can imagine how nerve wracking that would be! I think I had a spider in my boot, because when I took it off I had 6 lovely bites. They kept getting bigger and itchier! I was panicked it was some poisonous spider, but DH talked me off a ledge. I'm not sure what to do in your case because I don't know how serious tick bites are other than potential Lyme, but if you're really nervous maybe try urgent care or call your OB or one on call?

I am at urgent care now because the bugger wouldn't come out. They think it is a deer tick so I have to watch the area to see if a rash appears and call my OB on Monday to see what they suggest. I cant take antibiotic they would recommend as a precaution...Ugh...
6 spider bites would freak me out too! Why does this crazy stuff happen in the 9 months we don't need it to???

Hoping for no reaction at the tick site. That sucks that you can't take the antibiotic while preggo.

Thanks Ladies! I am hoping nothing comes of it! @golfrgal I am allergic to the meds but if I do wind up testing positive, they can try an alternative drug but its in "Level B" of pregnancy drugs so they want to avoid it unless its necessary and the benefit will outweigh the risk.
Just another thing to worry about this week

@maitaibeth- I went to an Urgent care on Friday night and they dug it out with a needle- he dug himself in pretty good but on the bright side, it wasn't engorged so we are hoping we found it early enough. I live by woods and all my neighbors have had lyme. I am really hoping this isn't my time!

Hope everything is fine - and it probably is!!!  Try not to worry too much. 

I do, however, want you to keep this in mind, because a good friend has debilitating Lyme disease.  There is not necessarily a rash, and sometimes symptoms can show up years later.  So, in a few years, if you or your child start having odd symptoms - joint pain, achiness, migraines - insist your doc test you again.  At that point, they'll do IV antibiotics.   I'm sure you're fine, but just keep it in mind for the future.  I'm really not trying to scare you! 

PS - I know how much it sucks to be allergic to antibiotics.    I'm allergic to 3 out of the 4 classes.

@auntjessy thanks for sharing your friends experience and I am sorry they are going through it! I set up an appt with my primary and I will request follow up testing in a few weeks. I know the lab tests are not all that accurate anyways so that is stressing me out! Hopefully no rash or symptoms develop but I am hoping they can do something to set me at ease! I called my OB and the nurse didn't think it was an OB issue- I completely disagree given the effect it has on an unborn child if left untreated. I am hoping someone calls me back. Otherwise, I will just see my primary and hope they can help!

Again, I'm sure you and LO are fine!  My DH tells me all the time, worry is like a rocking chair - it gives you something to do, but won't get you anywhere.  It annoys me when he says it.
