November 2013 Moms

UO Thursday

I honestly can't take the "who's left that's due early in the month" post and the "hey, come on over late November mamas and let's compare notes" posts today (even though I participated in the latter). They're stressing me out and, in my (possibly unpopular opinion), are making the board become rather dull and a bit like a "baby pissing contest" if you catch my drift. And don't even get me STARTED on the "Dear Diary" posts...

Our squishies will come when they're ready. Let's chill the F out and have some fun with the time we have left (at least as much fun as we can muster).

What's your UO for the day?

Agreed - it's just annoying me right now.

And my UO is that I can't stand the duck face photos. I have a few friends who feel the need to post new duck face photos daily on Facebook. They aren't children, they are grown professional adults. It looks stupid and you just make yourself look like a jackass.

  • @jennabee1015 I have a prius and I drive over the speed limit most times and get super annoyed at pussy drivers. It might depend on where you live. In Chicago all drivers are pretty aggressive so you'd better keep up!

Mine is I hate crunch bars or anything with those stupid crispy things in it.

Agreed!!!  I agree it's kind of a mind fuck because who knows when it will happen, but on average first-time babies come just after 41 weeks, so let's not get our panties in a bunch when he/she doesn't come in week 39 or whatever.  It especially drives me crazy when the 36/37 week-ers are comparing notes, predicting when labor will happen, etc.  Most of them are going to be doing that for a long time.  I get that we're all super pregnant, uncomfortable, and stabby at this point-- but I feel like dwelling on weeks and due dates is just going to make it worse.  These squishies will come whenever they damn well please!

  • I think the majority of Prius drivers are the slowest and most annoying drivers on the road. I appreciate that they are helping to save the environment, and I'm glad that they are saving themselves money by not having to fuel up as much as other drivers, but for the love of God, drive the speed limit! The freeway is not the place to drive 45 mph to save gas!
I drive a Prius, and those Prius drivers piss me off too, FWIW!  :-)
  • I don't really like Halloween that much. Some one killed our cat on Halloween when I was in my early teens. They skinned her and left the skin on our fence. I've been put off of it every since. I don't want to ruin my husband's or sons' fun so I still celebrate it with them.

I'm ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas season to get started!

  • @katie.725 agreed! I'm sick of saying congrats period though. I just don't care about anything except getting my own LO here. I don't know if that's unpopular or I'm just a bitch but that's the truth! I still say it but in my head I'm annoyed because its not me. ( edd tomorrow)
  • Being Halloween and all....  I really hate when people take their LOs out trick or treating when they're SUPER young.  Clearly you're just going to eat all of the candy.  I don't mind when a family has a child that is a little older and they dress up the younger one to come along--but do they really need their own bag for candy?  They can't even eat peas yet let alone a Snickers.
  • My UO is that other than Elf, I can't stand any movie with Will Ferrell. I think he is a crappy actor. I'm not sure how he did such a great job in Elf.
I love Will Farrell movies - except for Elf.  I just can't get into it no matter how many times I try.

I agree. This is the first year that DS1 is taking a bag; he's 2 1/2. Before we just walked around with our nieces and nephews to show him off for being so cute in his costume. DS1 has some feeding/eating issues so anything that not a sucker or chocolate without nuts/nougat will probably be going in the trash. I'm Type 1 and DH isn't really into candy.

  • Yeah, we brought our pets inside at Halloween after that. I have no idea why some one would do that but they must have known the cat was ours or otherwise why would they hang her on our fence? We had two cats- a white cat and a black cat. Of course it was the black cat. So my very religious mother blamed Devil worshippers. :-/

  • My UO has changed in the past 2 weeks. Before I thought inducing just because was a terrible thing, and selfish. I now, truly would take an inducement on Friday at 39 weeks or a C just so I can stop going back an forth to labor and delivery due to health issues. I understand that they alway get them back under control, which would make an induction medically unnesscary, but FFS, I want this over.
I'm kind of with you on this, but for different reasons.  It's protocol at my hospital to induce anyone over 40 at 38 weeks as there is an increased chance of stillbirth for mothers over 40 after 38 weeks.  I will be 3 months shy of 40 on my due date.  They will not let me go past 41 weeks but the increased chance of "demise" has me SO freaked out that I've totally changed my opinion on induction.  I have said all along that I really don't want to be induced but now that someones finally told me WHY they suggest it I'm 100% all for it...induce the shit out of me to make sure that my squishy is ok!

This one is definitely an UO in my area (Boston).

I hate baseball. I think it's the most boring sport ever invented, and I could care less than the Sox won the World Series last night.

I think I just like my sports "violent" -- I live for hockey and football. Maybe this is also why I'm a lawyer? I just like being aggressive/aggressive things, generally?
Baseball blows!  I'm right there with you!

2.5 is totally acceptable to me.  They can walk and kind of get the trick or treat thing and probably eat most of the candy.  I'm all for showing LO off in a cute costume, but I just feel like the parents want the candy when they're like 2 months old!

  • I can't stand all the BLAD stuff on this BMB.  And the badges that go with it.  In fact I hate all badges b/c it's just extra shit I have to scroll through.

I wish some trolls would come back for some entertainment.

I really don't care if people are bitching/whining/complaining/AWing their current pg or labor status.  As long as there is something to keep the board moving.  Otherwise it's like watching paint dry.

  • My UO, I hate all sports.. Unless there are horses involved I don't like to watch or attend them.

I don't want an induction but I will be 39 weeks Friday and I'm gonna see if she'll strip my membranes to hopefully get things moving.. I hurt so bad I don't sleep, eating is miserable, and I really just want to know if I have a son or a daughter! Being team green has been great but I'm over it.. I want to know if I'm gonna have a ticked off boy because I've been saying she for the last 9 months..

And What? You don't like the badges but you have siggys?  Explain yourself

    image
Siggys are at least somewhat helpful (much more in early pg - not at this stage) to determine how far along someone is and get a better perspective on their question.  Badges are just a waste of space IMO.

  • I hate panty liners and I won't wear them.  This is my break from the monthly visitor and I'd rather be stinky and change my underwear as needed then wear a panty liner or pad.

  • We didn't know about the black cat thing at the time or we would have kept her in. I had a black cat in college, also, and never let him out of the house just because of that experience.

She might not be far off. It is disgusting and horrible, but I have heard that it happens all over the place on Halloween and stems from the superstition of black cats bringing bad luck/representing evil and other crap like that. I get so nervous on Halloween for this reason that I make sure that my cat is locked in a room somewhere far away from the door. He is a black cat that is normally an indoor/outdoor cat, but not on Halloween. So scary. And I am so sorry that that had to happen to you. :(
