Hey ladies,
So I wanted to share this. With my first pregnancy I was taking pre-natal vitamins before I was preggers because we were trying. Then, my first sign of being pregnant was nausea. I stay really nauseous throughout the first 6 or 7 weeks. One day, I forgot to take my vitamin and felt great. So, the next day I didn't take it again, but rather took my regular vitamin and the nausea was gone again. I realized it was my vitamin making me nauseous....(I even took it again to test and sure enough, bleh).
I asked my nurse and the pharmacist about this and they both said certain kinds of vitamins (especially because of all the iron in a prenatal) can cause nausea (and constipation thanks to that iron overload). So, what they said I can do is make sure I'm eating enough iron-filled foods, take my regular multi-vitamin and take a separate folic acid vitamin as well, to ensure there is enough. That's what I've been doing this time along and I haven't felt sick once!
