Doppler use

Hi everyone...I had a question. When is the dr able to use the Doppler to get a heart beat? I had my u/s 1 week ago b/c of spotting. When I went in everything looked good and beanie had a heart beat. Now I'm going back on Monday for routine blood work and just wondering if they will be able to get it using the Doppler? Also what is the chance of m/c after seeing the heart beat? Thanks...

Re: Doppler use

  • My dr told my mc chance drops to about 5% after you see a heartbeat. I'm over 35 so it may be lower for under 35. Also I've never been able to hear the heartbeat on the doplar until about 12 weeks.

  • I've heard 10-12 weeks for doppler... that's fantastic that you saw a heartbeat! :)

  • With both my kids, I had my first appointment at ten weeks and we heard the heartbeat both times. I'm praying the same thing happens this time.

  • With my first pregnancy I heard the heartbeat with a Doppler at 9 weeks.

  • I had an anterior placenta with my daughter, so I couldn't hear the heartbeat on the doppler even at the 12 week appointment.

  • My doctor doesn't start listening for the heartbeat until 12 weeks with the Doppler. Since my next appointment is at 10 weeks, she's having me get an ultrasound, to be sure everything's progressing well.
