Can I substitute cube steak for stew beef? I've never cooked cube steak before, so I'm not sure what the consistency is like. It is in a vacuum sealed pack, so it just looks like a small roast to me.
Are you making beef stew? Like in a crockpot? I think cube steak would fall apart and not give you the consistency you'd want.
Cube steak is a quick cooking cut of beef that I think has been tenderized alot. I usually make them on the George Forman sort of like how you'd make hamburgers. Slather with BBQ sauce or steak sauce.
I have only used cube steak to make chicken fried steaks, but my MIL just puts hamburger in her stew, and her's is the best I've ever had, so I'm sure it would be fine!
I agree with @CLLDLL. cube steak is usually already tenderized to death and cooks in just a minute or two. It's a hunk of beef? Or cubes of it? it'll just cook way too fast
