silly question- return Lansinoh gel pads

I purchased a few boxes of Lansinoh 2pk gel pads and I've never used them. The boxes are unopened. My LO is 8.5 weeks old. I figured if I haven't used them by now, then I won't use them so I was going to return them since they are like $10/box.  Did anyone use them after 8 weeks pp? Maybe once I'm back to work and pumping more...?

Thanks!!

  • I used them the entire time I nursed DS1 (16 months). I plan to do the same with DS2. I don't need them all of the time, but I will have a heavy leak usually once a day or so that would soak through my shirt if I wasn't wearing the pads.

  • I kept a box that I opened but never used in my fridge after DD was born just in case. She is 20 months (nursed for 12 months) and DS is 3 months and I've still never used them. My nipple pain was not too bad with DD and hardly noticeable with DS.

My one tip to prevent nipple pain with pumping though is to use the Medela Lanolin on your nipples prior to pumping every time you pump. I pumped 4-5 times per day with DD while I was working and mine would get sore from friction if I didn't use it. I tried the Lansinoh brand of lanolin and hated it, it was too thick to rub onto such sensitive skin!
  • I think pps are talking about disposable nursing pads and you're talking about the gel soothers that can be hot or cold? If so, I used the gel soothers when I was super engorged the first week, then again when I had a clogged duct. Then one of them exploded in my microwave. I'm down to one only but I'm keeping it in case of a clogged duct again.

If this isn't what you're talking about, disregard...
