cell free DNA blood tests??? (ie Harmony, Panorama)

Hi Ladies!

I'm 37 and this is my first time around, so I'm pretty paranoid - aren't we all!  I was just wondering if any of you had experience or had looked into the new cell free DNA tests that are out now (I think there are about 4 different companies offering it).  From what I understand, they can be done as early as 9-10 weeks to determine trisomy defects and gender from a simple blood draw.

Just wondering what kind of cost most of you have seen with this?  I'm assume most insurances don't cover it yet and wondered if we are talking a few hundred dollars or upwards of a thousand plus?

Also, at how many weeks did you get results from the tests.  I have heard stories that the MaterniT21 test requires more cell free DNA, so women have had to retest more often because they don't have enough yet at the time of the blood draw.

Would love your thoughts and feedback!  Thank you!

  • I'm also 37 and scheduled for my Harmony test in November. My OB said they don't do the test until after 10 weeks because of needing enough fetal DNA in your blood stream. I don't know much about cost but I'm hoping my insurance covers it.
