Safe, Private online photo sharing

Is there such a thing?!?! We're getting close to a due date. BEFORE (!) we even get there I would like to setup some kind of photo sharing "protocol". What I DON'T want are photos of my child splashed all over Facebook. Since I'm considering dropping my account due to security crap anyway (that seems to change every other day), the last thing I want are MY photos becoming someone else's and being visible to everyone and their mom. Creepy. Any suggestions?

Send e-mails or texts to the people you want to share your photos with.

That's the only thing I can think of that doesn't store the photos on an online site.
