DS isn't crawling or even getting up onto all fours yet and we've been really concerned about that in relation to his overall development. Yesterday, his PT said that he was getting a lot better at supporting weight on his left arm and didn't need any support once he was helped into the crawling position. It's not perfect, but we're getting there.
Last week was pretty rough, so I didn't have any brags, but I'm going to make up for it this week with two
1. DD put her tights on by herself yesterday! This is a big deal for her because she still has a weak grasp for her age.
2. DH is taking a class on learning differences in kids with ADHD, ASD, and other LDs, and I think it's been really good for him. He scheduled a meeting with DD's teacher to check in and see if there are extra things we can work on with her at home. I can't go because I have to take DD1 to therapy, but I feel good about him going solo. I think he's in a place where he can listen to concerns and advocate for DD, which is great because with DD#3 coming in a few months this won't be the last meeting he has to attend without me there as back-up
Last week, we ran into DD1's friend Brodie as we were walking in to school. The two of them started talking and walking together, and DD1 grabbed for his hand and missed. Then he reached for her hand and missed. And then they found each others' hands, and walked together down the hall. Until Brodie decided to sprint ahead to catch up with their teacher, lol. But I just about died from the sweetness of that 20 seconds or so.
I think I adore Brodie. I met his mom this past weekend at a birthday party and she's really nice, too.
We instituted a system of adding/taking away smiley faces to encourage the girls to work out their problems, talk to each other instead of screaming (DD2) and not deliberately annoy one another (DD1). I'm crossing my fingers, but so far it seems to be making a positive difference.
Crawling is turning into cruising and yesterday Z pulled herself up all by herself! Since surgery she is able to snuggle more. We think because her neck isn't as constrained (try holding your tongue to the bottom of your mouth and feel the tension that creates).
DS was evaluated from the University hospital yesterday.
The evaluator showed him a picture of 3 cats. The one on the left was a cat. The second one was a cat with no eyes and no tail. The third cat had no legs and no tail. One of the evaluators asked DS "show me the cat with no eyes." DS points to the cat with no legs and no tail and says "the cat is broken." We all laughed.
When some little snot told him he couldn't play, the kid replied, "That's okay. I'll play with someone else." Completely scripted, but so much better than not knowing what to do with himself.
P did so great with her MRIs today. She never complained about anything other than when was she going to get it! We actually arrived early at INOVA and so we had a bit of a wait to take her back. Also, we were at the pumpkin patch yesterday with her new preschool and their was a SN preschool there as well. Even the other teachers in her school were a little weirded out by it, I knew immediately that even though they all looked so perfect they were from a SN preschool. P played with all of the students, no questions asked & no judging, I love her for that.
DD is starting with questions - kind of - but they are social "questions" which is a good sign I think. Mommy? Where mommy? Daddy? (that one is hard to answer though per our situation and only come up recently due to a cancelation)
Mostly mommy? or the laundry list when explaining how everybody poops - mommy poop? daddy poop (I hold myself back on this one, lol)? DD name poop? Monkey poop?.......I think she has been thinking that pooping is a bad thing even in a diaper - not training yet - but she has been resistant to tell me the truth, like she is afraid or something. So everybody poops it is!

All this time he has been taking shirts off passing through his butt and legs!
