weightloss support.

I'm struggling to motivate myself to really start getting back in shape. I told myself to relax, enjoy my little squishy nugget, and focus on breastfeeding. And nine months on, nine months off. Well... nine months is sadly going to be here very very quickly, and I'm 25lbs away. Anyone interested in a weightloss check in once as week? We can celebrate and support one another. And just be accountable.

  • Oh yes! Doing a cleanse diet for a couple of weeks then doing my regular diet. I started on friday. Was doing great then SO ordered a ton of greasy, salty chicken wings tonight. I chose to eat them though. Now it's 3am and I'm awake feeling sick and downing water like crazy. So I'm on board.

  • I was just up thinking about this very subject.   Even though I am 40 LB lighter than I was pre pregnancy I still need to lose weight.   BUT I HATE HATE HATE to exercise.  I am a SAHM and I homeschool so I thought maybe if I incorporate 30 minutes of exercise into our schedule this winter (Iowa winters can be brutal) maybe just maybe I will do it.. :)

I am at 165, I dream of getting down to my high school weight of 120 but realistically I would be happy with 140.  I am 5'6 and 41 years old.
The last time I went on a diet and exercised religiously I got down to 150 but that meant 1 hour of low/mid impact aerobics daily and eating like a bird... I lived on fruit/veg. and mixed nuts  NOT FUN!!!  and as soon as I started eating again the weight came back on.
Sadly our daughter (11) has the same problem, so we both could benefit from this.  ugghhh

I envy those women who can eat anything and not gain an ounce.  :P

  • Count me in too please.
  • Wow. 9 months off still seemed so far away. Guess not. I am in. How do you lose the post baby pooch? Any tips?

  • Count me in also.  I've been 'trying' to get it together for the last month.  I've managed to get in my exercise but I'm really struggling with eating better.

  • If you saw my Sunday vent I already laid it out. Need to stop eating poorly and could add in another workout or two during the week. I know the food is my biggest problem. I started tracking on sparkpeople and that will help keep me accountable (as long as I enter everything religiously).

  • H and I downloaded an app called "Lose It" a few weeks ago. It's basically a calorie and exercise tracker. So far he's lost 10 pounds and I've lost 6.5. Would highly recommend, and especially love that I can scan the barcodes of food packages to automatically enter foods.

  • The responses are even better than I hoped! I was thinking we do a check in on Fridays. I'm on the west coast, so anyone can start it if you don't want to wait for me. We can share the small goals were reach every week and ask questions. Just overall support one another.

I honestly have about 30 lbs to lose, and have lost just about all my muscle tone. my personal plan is to track my food with the my fitness pal app, try and walk every day, and do free weights and Jillian Michael dvds a few times a week. I really want to get back into running, and plan to run a 10k next 4th of July. It's been 3.5 years since I've ran any sort of organized race. I miss it.

  • I'm down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I definitely need to work on my core muscles:/ I could definitely use the motivation of a weekly check-in!

I'm down to pre pregnancy weight (would still like to lose a little more though).  I have cut out dairy from my diet for breastfeeding since my LO has a dairy intolerance.  This has helped tremendously!  I never thought I would have the will power to say no to pizza, ice cream, anything with cheese on it.  But it's been 5 months and the weight has just melted away.  I know that breastfeeding helps, but I've been forced to eat clean - which is a good thing, and it's a major contributor to the weight loss.  I know that's how I've been able to get back into my size 8 jeans!  It sounds really difficult, but it's my official tip or suggestion.  And after a while, you won't even miss it.  I still find a way to eat junk, but it just doesn't have the fat and calories that dairy has.
I do eat a lot of dairy. What do you put in your coffee? Ugh, and cereal? Those are two major food groups in my life. I also eat a lot of sugar--just general unhealthy junk. That is where I need the most help.

I have such a bad sugar addiction, and I am an overeater. I have been focusing on just eating regular sized portions and that has at least curbed the weight gain for me, but it's been a lot harder to cut out the junk food.
  • My problem is snacking when I'm home. If I'm out and about or working I have to remind myself to eat but at home it's constant snacks. I've been consciously telling myself no for several days now and drinking a glass of water instead.

I've also turned morning naptime into treadmill time instead of sit at the computer time. I've been getting in a good 20 min run most days.

Praying I can stick to those two thing and see some results.

  • I'm in. I am about 10 lbs below PP weight, but I was 20 lbs below PP weight when I stopped breastfeeding -- I'm struggling to get back on track. I probably have 60 lbs to lose, and I could use all the help I can get.

Has anyone on here tried the fitbit tracker? I've heard some people say it was life changing for weight loss.
I haven't used the fitbit, but I have used similar devices-- they are what you make of them. It is like anything else... the fit bit isn't going to do the work for you, but helps open your eyes to how much sitting you're doing and helps give you a goal to work towards.

  • I think my biggest issue is that sometimes I eat like I'm still pregnant, haha. Just in the last 2 weeks though I have gotten serious about making an actual effort to work out. I have a mom and baby Aquafit class once a week, and aim to do my kettle bell DVD workout twice a week, with a walk or two as well. I definitely need to have some accountability though so a check-in will be great. I also downloaded the My Fitness Pal app where you can input workouts and keep a food log. I have 15lbs to go to get I where I was pre-pregnancy but ideally I would be happy to lose twice that.

Ditto and you have to enter everything you eat. I use sparkpeople to track food, water and exersize.

  • I will have to track things the old fashioned way since I do not have a smart phone.  My phone is actually pretty dumb as it makes phone calls and that is about it.

I am also going to try and do the GD diet with a few modifications.  I am not a huge sweet eater and dairy products are not high on my list.  If I am starving I will grab a slice of cheddar cheese and a few crackers.

My downfall is pop.  I drink one 24 oz bottle a day which is a lot I know, so I started cutting that in half and drinking more water and decaf. tea.

My problem is in my family weight sticks to us like glue.  so frustrating.

  • You can do sparkpeople online. No app necessary. Just have to write down what you eat and enter it a couple times a day so you stay on track.

I've learned a lot about my food. I used to eat hummas and pita chips for snack and then I realized the pita chips ( which I thought were healthy) were packed full of fat and calories. Now I just have veggies and one or two chips with my hummas.

  • I'm in!

I have hit a major plateau with weight loss. Maybe this will help. I have been using MFP and have lost 55 pounds since baby, but still have a bit to go. I'm also curious about the fitbit. I know I'm probably not getting enough steps in.

  • I'm definitely in!  I've been trying to lose but i'm still not quite at my pre-pregnancy weight (got about 5 lbs to go)... but I also would like to lose more on top of that.  My knee hurts and my clothes don't fit.  I definitely need some motivation.

  • I wonder if a daily check-in would be a little annoying for the board? I know I could use some accountability on what I'm eating and if I'm jumping on the treadmill or not.

I think a daily one would be overwhelming to the board because we're not super busy. How about one thread a week that we can add to/check in as we need to? Plus it's best to only weight yourself once a week to track your results.
