WWYD -travel

My grandpa died 2 weeks after LO was born and never got to meet him. My Nana was supposed to come down but got pneumonia. Now she won't come until spring at the earliest. I'm afraid of something happening to her and LO never meeting her. I'm thinking about taking him from FL to boston in early Dec. I'm just wondering if I should expose him to that many people (on the plane) during a time when lots of people are sick.

But then I know if work said I needed to be somewhere, we'd be jumping on a plane no doubt... And if I'd do it for work, why not to ensure DS meets his great-nana.

WWYD?

I'm torn.

I would definitely go, but we've also taken M on 5 flights already, so I may be on the far end of the pendulum swing on this one :) we have flights planned again next weekend, for thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I guess I figure she won't be exposed to anything she doesn't see at daycare and I want her to be exposed to more germs now to help her be healthier down the road (I'm a big believer that we over protect our babies from some germs)

@lakminavkar - Australia is better than Boston and I'm jealous.

@Mrsmmalone - I agree that we over protect them... But LO isn't in daycare so he doesn't get as exposed.

I'm probably going to do it. I figure if I get a window seat, bring my mom, we can limit how many people come close.

G isn't exposed at daycare either, but we're flying cross cross country in December for the exact same reason for H's grandparents.

Lax, what part of Australia? I visited Perth once, and fell in love. I wish the Navy would let us move there!

    (Sorry for the thread jack.)

I know, lol. When I saw Australia I got starry eyed, then remembered its like a 20 hr flight or something. Yikes!

You are mother of the year (and granddaughter of the year)!

His parents are from Melbourne, but I am flying into Sydney first so I'll stop there for a day or two and then maybe go one other place before heading to his parents house.

I'd do it! Our babies are old enough to handle that kind of stuff now, IMO.
    She is here! 5-29-13

Is driving an option?  I am driving FL to NY with DD for the holidays because of my fear of overexposure.  I am splitting the drive with DH and MIL so we can hopefully do longer days and drive a ton while she is sleeping.

I'd go. We're taking our girls to England next month to visit my husband's family. They will be almost 7 months then, old enough to handle a cold, as @AllieAGame said.

I thought about driving but I don't want to keep him in his car seat that long.

I've decided to fly. LO will have had his flu shot and we are going to book an infant seat for him so we will have a whole row to ourselves..
