My only concern with not calling would be not being able to get an appointment at 8 weeks (or whenever your first US is) if the OB's office is crazy busy. Otherwise I don't see why you can't wait!
I went to a nurse about a week ago to confirm the pregnanch and then scheduled an appointment at 10 weeks. I didn't have any major problems with my first pregnancy so I didn't feel the need to rush in.
I thought I was going to be high risk with ds since I only have one kidney, so I went to the dr immediately to get the pregnancy confirmed. I wasn't high risk because I am young and healthy, and given that the last pregnancy/birth was so uncomplicated I'm not in a rush this time. I have an appt on the 21st and will talk to him then.
Nope, this is my second child and I haven't had any urgency to call the doctor. In fact, I've had it on the "to do" list for about a week, and it may be another week before I call to schedule. Where I live, you don't see the doc till you are 10 weeks, so I don't think it's worth the time/money unless I am having cramping or any issues.
I called because I figured they would be pretty booked. But when they got me in in 2 weeks for an u/s and appt I thought omg why so soon lol? I'm excited for some piece of mind but in no hurry.
I only called because I'm not 100% sure how far along I am and I knew they'd want to do a dating ultrasound. My doctor's office is also really busy and even squeezing me in is 2 weeks out.
YES thats how i felt i called because i heard it was hard to get an appt withing a month of calling. so my first appt was scheduled for 10 weeks but recently bumped up to next week at 7 weeks
This is my 3rd pregnancy and I wasn't going to call until later, but it is always so busy at my OB. So I decided to make an appt. I am so annoyed because they can't get me in until November 21 and I will be 11 1/2 weeks. With my girls I was seen around 9 weeks.
I'm not in a rush the only reason I'm calling my doc is because I need him to confirm and to see my ultrasound for my abdomin as that's how I found out I was pregnant. I'm going with a midwife this time as I had a bitchy nurse last time that tried to push an epidural even though I wanted natural and when I told her to just stop asking I'm going natural she got all pissy and even told me at one point that it wasn't that bad and to stop saying it hurt all I said before that was fuck this hurts lol!! I wasn't even loud I just groaned. Anyways no I'm not in a rush lol!!
Since I had a cp last month, I'm in no rush to call this time around. I'll probably call early next week and hopefully go in around 8 weeks to (hopefully) get an early ultrasound.
Nope. In the military they don't see you till 10 weeks and that is just an orientation appointment with all the other pregnant moms who share a due date, so I'm not in a big hurry yet to call.
I called ASAP but mostly because I had a half day scheduled at work at the end of the month and was hoping I could get in that day...too bad my doctors office is closed that day. They scheduled me for the next available appointment which is on 11/13.
I called right away even though this is my 3rd pregnancy. My OB's office is very busy and they like to see you around 6 weeks. I actually have my appointment this Wednesday.
I wasn't in a rush to call right away, until I had an ER visit last Thursday. I was advised to go in for a follow up appointment this week, so I had to call my dr office this morning. They informed me that they are booked this week, so now my only option is to go back to the ER for the follow up blood work and ultrasound. I'm quite frustrated right now.

I haven't either. I think in about 6 weeks along. I recently had a miscarriage in July so I am not getting too excited just yet. Also the last pregnancy they didn't schedule my first appt. until I was about 10 weeks.
I am new in town and have to get all new doctors, so I called a few days after we tested positive. And when you're pregnant, you get in as a new patient much faster!
My first appt with the OB is just after I turn 6 weeks. This is our first, so it's all new to us. Is an ultra sound done as early as 6 weeks usually??
Also, why can't I get my ticker to work? How are others saving and using their tickers? Thanks!
I called as soon as I found out. This is my first time with this OB, I had my first in a different state, and I wanted to find out the process and when to schedule my appt. I'm glad I did too because this pregnancy is so much different than my first, I have been so sick since before I even got my BFP, and a yeast infection to top it off and the nurse there has been great to talk to and get me the meds I need. I guess I could have called about it even if I didn't have my first appt scheduled already but it just makes it easier in my mind.
@Loli191, you may be able to see your baby on an u/s at 6 weeks and find the heartbeat..but you may not. It's still a bit early and it depends on the doctor on whether or not they will do it.
I haven't, but I only found out Friday night and am only 5 weeks today. It's still not totally real yet and I'm trying to let it sink in before doing something like making an appt and making it official.
I found out Saturday, same boat as you, letting it sink in for a few weeks,
I am in noooo rush. My new insurance is supposed to kick in any day now and I am NOT going without insurance if I do not have to. When I was pregnant with DS, my husband was alternately unemployed or laid off (we had just moved 1/2 way across the country not knowing i was pregnant and he was looking...we had plenty of savings...then he got laid off 2 months after getting hired so we had to pay COBRA...didn't want him to sound like a deadbeat that doesn't work, LOL.) We spent over $13,000 out-of-pocket because I have a clotting disorder and I had a c/s so I am in no rush to fill that prescription, etc. I am on an aspirin regimen and will call the very minute my insurance is confirmed.

I found out Saturday, same boat as you,
I'm undecided on whether I want to go to the same place, so H and I will be touring 2 different birth centers this week and next.
