Where is a good place to buy maternity clothes? I prefer somewhere with a great clearance section!!

Last time, and I plan to do the same this time, I bought mostly non-maternity clothes. If you buy long stretchy shirts, especially if they have rouching on the sides, they work great for maternity clothes and you can still wear then afterwards!

Old Navy black maternity pants are great! I wore those to the office when pregnant with baby #1. So comfy!

Most of the actual maternity stuff I bought was from Target. I got the maternity/nursing shirts, those I have been wearing post-baby too, because of the way they are cut they don't scream "maternity shirt!".

In summary, I would try to get mostly non-maternity shirts and a few maternity pants/skirts. I hate wasting money on stuff that will only be used a couple months.

  • I like Pink Blush which I think is relatively cheap when you can hit a sale (like they are having right now).  Also H&M has cute stuff and isn't very expensive.  Old Navy on sale also (they also have a decent clearance right now). I don't like Motherhood, I think it is very matronly looking.  I did see that Sears had some cute things last week that were buy one get one free.

In addition, I could never find anything that fit right. I ordered some clothes online, returned them all. (Unfortunately I could only get store credit because it had been longer than x days, so I had to hunt and hunt and finally found a few tank tops that were halfway decent.) I'm usually a C-cup, went up to a D-cup last pregnancy, but everything from MM was still too big in the boob area for me.

  • Kohl's, Walmart, Target, Old Navy, and KMart all sell maternity clothes. Also all the big department stores -- Sears, Macy's, Dillard's, JCPenney, etc. And they all have clearance sections. There are tons of online stores too. I know Gap sells maternity online.

  • I just got a really nice pair of maternity jeans from JCP.com for $17!  Later this month I'm hitting up Motherhood Maternity at an outlet center, last pregnancy I got 3 pants, 3 sweaters, and 4 shirts for $100.  I lost a bunch of weight since then so now I need to buy new pants (I'm making use of all the shirts though).

  • Also check out normal 'clearance' stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls.  I'm pretty sure they all have a maternity section.
  • Target! Also I lucked out at Old Navy - usually their maternity stuff is only available online, but sometimes if you dig in the clearance section you'll find returned maternity items. I got two pairs of jeans for $10 each since maternity is considered "defective." Amazing find!

  • Burlington Coat Factory is wicked cheap, but they may be regional.  Target is where I got most of mine, or sales racks at any other store that sells them.  I needed some nicer tops/pants for work so I got a bunch on sale at Motherhood.  Luckily I'm only a month off my last pregnancy as far as time of the year, so I can rewear it all!

  • I hit up the Kohls clearance rack with my 30% off coupon. I got a couple pairs of capris for 4 bucks! GL!

  • Goodwill and Ross!
  • In my area JC Penney only sells their maternity items online.  I found that even though the selection in store wasn't really huge, Old Navy had a lot of trendy styles that were inexpensive or it could be that they had a really good sale this weekend.  I also went to Sears and again- not a big selection.  I know Kohls has a maternity section but I also found them to be expensive.  Because I'll be pregnant during the winter I'm hoping leggings and sack dresses are the best bet.  That or I'll just have to do a TON of laundry to keep up with what I wear!
  • ASOS and H&M have very cute stuff for cheap. I got lots of basics from Old Navy also.

  • I plan on buying mostly non-maternity clothes. I was at Dillards the other day and saw some really cute baggy type sweaters and shirts that would be perfect for the bump. Now obviously I will probably hit tj maxx and a few less expensive places. But they have printed leggings these days which I think I can match up easy. Plus most of my pregnancy will be during the winter and since my husband has rejoined active duty, God only know where I will be.

    It's a BOY

  • Do you live near an outlet mall? With DD, I got a whole bunch at motherhood maternitys outlet store for super cheap, less then $15 for a pants/short/ or skirt and shirt outfit. Old Navy and Target are good as well. Or check out goodwill or consignment shops and ask friends:)
