Are your finger tips cold? You may have poor circulation due to iron deficiency. I would ask your doctor to see what your iron levels are and he might prescribe you an iron supplement. It's very common in pregnancy.
My son has serious heart problems and his oxygen sits in the 80's and his nails only get blue when he is cold and by blue I mean they turn dark purple. So my guess is that it is not a heart issue or you would prob have other symptoms by now. But I'm not a Dr. and that is a guess. If your nails are blue because of a heart/ oxygen problem then it could be serious. In that case to be on the safe side I would definitely email your Dr.
Found what Reynaud phenomenon is... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynaud's_phenomenon Yes, if exposed to cold my hands and feet get cold and numb and blue and bright yellow spots appear.. but I thought that happens to everybody.
I`ll have a bloodwork done soon, I`l check the iron too.
I was thinking that. My mom had it, but when she got it, it was a LOT WORSE than that... and her finger tips would be so cold, you could hardly touch them.
It might be the settings on my monitor, but they don't look hardly blue to me, lol.. I would ask your doc, and see what they say.
I have reynauds. It is painful cold when it strikes. Like, makes you cry kind of cold. And my entire hand or foot turns blue, not just the nails. I agree, gave your doc check it :-)
Reynaud's luckily varies in severity, I have it too and it's annoying more than painful. Fingernails first, then it moves down the finger, but the problem (and pain) is mostly when my fingers heat back up. Ouch.
Re: blue-violet nails
Do you have Reynaud's syndrome, by any chance?
