1st Trimester

Disney World

I just found out that I'm pregnant, yay!! But my husband and I are heading to Disney World this weekend. My LMP was about 5 weeks ago. Should I avoid some rides? Or will I be okay because it is so early?

Re: Disney World

  • I would ask if the rides were safe for pregnant passangers before I got on

  • I would avoid the rides that warn against pregnant women riding them. We are doing Disneyland in December and January and I plan to take it easy and only ride the rides that don't jerk much and that are safe for pregnant women.  Luckily I have a 20 month old who rides mostly calm rides.

  • I was at Disneyland in September. Their list suggests avoiding the big rides, but the calm ones are fine. The list included Star Tours, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, The Matterhorn, and the Indiana Jones ride. I am going back in January!!

  • Congratulations!!!

I asked my doctor why certain rides are excluded at theme parks while you're pregnant and he said that the placenta could be detached from the uterine wall and pretty much all s*** would hit the fan from there. I have no idea how it would affect you at your early stage but I wouldn't risk anything without consulting with your doctor first! No 45 second ride is worth the risk.

We went to DisneyWorld almost 2 months ago and I was roughly 5 1/2 months pregnant. It was kind of a downer but it was fun to see the other stuff I would have normally over-looked.

  • I was just there in September when I was 5-6 weeks along! There was still a lot to do and see. Disney has a guide for what is safe and what is not on their website:
    https://www.wdwinfo.com/pregnancy.htm

Basically, no roller coasters or any huge drops that create G Force. Rides I went on multiple times included Soarin' and Pirates of the Caribbean.

If you're planning on going to Universal, maybe think again. There was hardly anything I could ride there and it made me feel like I wasted a lot of money. Disney has plenty to do though! Have a great time!!

  • Just got back from several days at Disney World on Monday.  When you get the guide maps, there are rides with a red triangle next to the description which are ones that people with medical limitations (including pregnancy) should avoid. There is also this list on the Disney website that shows rides not recommended for expectant mothers.

  • I am going in late December. I plan on renting a motorized wheelchair. Sounds lame but I get sooooo out of breath now just walking up the stairs! And I know if I walk around all day I'll be too tired. So this is my solution to be able to go and keep up with all of my family. Is that weird? I just don't want to ruin anyone time by me being so slow and tired.
