FTM Contraction Question

I will be 40 weeks soon(a couple of days) and I have been having steady contractions for the last couple of days, especially last night and this morning. They are like a dull cramping and just pretty uncomfortable but not painful or unbearable. I've been having Braxton hicks for weeks but these are more steady and keep progressing up to a certain point but then stop for a bit. Either that or I'm not always noticing them since they aren't painful. The baby is also moving quite a bit.I was able to sleep through them last night and when I woke up this morning still felt them... And I do now. I also can really tell the baby has dropped a lot and I'm feeling constant pressure. Anyone else experienced this? Is it false labor? I go and see my doc on Wed. I'm just ready for some news.

I wouldn't say it it is false labor, but it isn't active labor either. Sounds like your body is just getting ready.

Besides being checked by the doctor, there really isn't anyway to know if they are actually doing anything. And even that information won't tell you when you will actually go into full blown labor. You just have to wait and see, good luck.

My bag has been packed for weeks and the car seat and diaper bag in the car. I'm so ready!!

I experienced this off and on for about a week. You'll know by the intensity when they're real.

I normally have super intense cramps from endometriosis so the pain I have been feeling is nothing compared to that. I have blacked out from the endo pain and thrown up and all that fun so this intensity is nothing compared to that.

It's called prodromal labor and it's your body prepping. It's frustrating as hell.

I just am praying I've at least dilated some since I was last checked at 37 weeks.

Had exact same issue at 39 wks. Doc said it is body preparing but not the real deal yet.

I've been dealing with the same since last Sat. With my last pregnancy this lasted for a week before I went into full labor.

Yeah I think Saturday is when these contractions started and really intensified Sunday morning then faded and yesterday was tough but today they are a lot more subdued. I just wonder if I've dilated at all since 37 weeks. I really hope to find out tomorrow.
