Maxwell or Mason?

Much shorter this time. DH finally recommended a couple of names I might be able to get on board with. What do you think of Maxwell (nn Max) and Mason? (I know Mason is super popular right now, but I'm getting to the point of beyond caring!)

Any middle name suggestions for either of these? Thanks!

My son is Max (Maximus) and I absolutely love it! It is such an energetic, masculine name but still lends itself well to adulthood!

Don't love Maxwell. I like Mason, but don't care for its popularity. They are both fine names.

I love Maxwell! Nice strong name Plus it makes me think of the dad from that old show 'The Nanny.' He was pretty awesome lol.

Mason - I think Max is a dog's name.  Also, every kid I've ever met named Max has been a nightmare so that name is ruined for me.

Maxwell is too cute! Mason is alright, but Maxwell is definitely better IMO.
