Help... ALMOST 38 WEEKS PREGNANT AND

I lost my mucus plug this morning and that was with cramps for a while. Then they stop, and my baby is been really active but after that he is  just been moving few times. Do I have to worry? I will be in labor soon? Someone had the same thing? It's my first baby and I don't know to much about it. How can I go in labor naturally, someone can give me an advice please! :)

  • I don't have my crystal ball handy but you should worry about going into labor between now and the next few weeks.

Between then and when you do go into labor I would read up on pregnancy and talk to your OB. You know, prepare and all that. Like you should have been doing for the last 38 weeks.

If you think you're in labor, call your OB or go to L&D.
  • Losing your mucus plug means nothing. The cramps stopped so I highly doubt you are in labor right this second.
  • Sorry, we really can't tell you.

  • I agree with the other posters, losing your MP doesn't mean you will be going into labor anytime soon. I had a friend lose hers a few times in the weeks leading up to her labor. Your body will just form another one if your not ready to go into labor yet.

I would call your doctor and tell them what is going on. They might want you to come in so they can check  you or just tell you to watch for the signs of labor.
And I also agree if your worried about LO's movement to drink a cold glass of water or juice and lie on your side (I am told left is best) and count the movements. If you feel nothing or are still worried just call your doc, that is what they are there for.

Call your medical care practitioner. None of us can look in your cervix and tell you if you're effaced, dilated, or have any other bodily signs that show impending labor.

The internet is not the place for medical advice, especially when it comes to childbirth and the safety of you and your LO.

Even those signs do not predict labor. Good luck, but you are probably in for the long run.

  • There is nothing to worry about; your body is doing what it's supposed to do preparing for labor. Trust me a true labor contraction will hit and you won't even think about coming onto a forum to ask if you're in labor...you'll know ;)

Hahaha. Yeah, it sure is mean to expect that a woman who could go into labor at any time should have some common sense.

You're going to be responsible for another human's life very soon and you have no idea how to tell if you're in labor. So you came to the internet, the INTERNET, to ask complete strangers instead of educating yourself or asking your medical care provider. You're about to be a parent, you need to be able to be responsible about things like this because it doesn't get easier once you have the baby. That's just realistic, not mean.

    Your question was ridiculous

  • Oh wow so her question was freaking ridiculous. Maybe it was and maybe she should have researched more however sometimes it's nice to hear from a person who's been through pregnancy before and has experienced what she's going through. I think personally you get a bunch of hormonally charged women on a site such as this and it becomes a bunch of catty remarks and unnecessary judgement. She's a FTM, geez give her a flipping break. But next time call your doctor if you experience anything that you aren't sure about. Because majority of the support you're looking for Wont be found here.
  • Yea I know. TB is supposed to be a group of supportive women. Some are while others are pretty petty and snarky. I've read some that give great advice. Just be prepared to be judged negatively.

No, TB is a website deigned to make money through the ads on the right side of your screen it's not "supposed" to be anything else. And we get a little snarky when someone comes in, asks a stupid question, then calls us mean when we truthfully tell her that we can't help.

And I've gotten great support from these ladies.

  • I can understand that seeking medical advice isn't the way to go here but sometimes the women on here are plain rude. Not necessary. Lets just make a FTM feel like crap cuz it's easily done behind a keyboard.

I have the same fears and worry about when and how and will I know. I don't post much because people are mean on here :-P but I've asked my dr the same thing about knowing when I'm in labor. Last appointment I was 2cm and 80% effaced and he just said, could be any day and swears I will know with no doubt when it's time so I just wait and wonder all the same things. He's not moving much could that mean soon? I'm feeling a lot of pressure, could it be soon? He's moving a lot, could it be soon? Haha :) I think we are just so anxious and excited and it's so foreign! Nurses and Drs seem very nice for us FTM so I would call and see what they say if you are worried. And all the advice I get is, it could be any day or it could be weeks, there doesn't seem to be any tell tale signs, dang it! Good luck and I'm excited for you! :)
Actually, no one was rude to her, and we got called mean first. She got very tame and logical responses.

  • Oh good lord... if you are this upset about what was said here, wait until you have your kid! You get a lot of unsolicited advice and judgment about most of the parenting choices you make. You're going to need thicker skin if you think that strangers expecting you to use common sense is "mean."

And I'm a FTM too. I educated myself and spoke to my doctor, I never used the internet for medical advice. Using the excuse of being a FTM is a little insulting to those of us who actually prepared for this, not all of us waited until the last two weeks to figure out how to know we were in labor, we tried to be responsible.

You seem to be the only one that is upset about this.  Someone comes on a message board and asks if shes going in to labor soon at 38 wks? You get whatever response you get.  Stop making it out to be more than it is.

  • Lol! Wow! Obviously you're upset over comments or else you wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Like I stated before. Hormonally charged snarky women who has to have a negative input. Hope I've made you're day so that you could comment. You get what you get pbhhhtttt!
