Hypothetical future sibset

So I'm currently still pregnant with DD2, but name nerd that I am, I'm already contemplating possible names of future children for fun.

Dd1 is Lily Elizabeth
Dd2 is Arwen Violet (most likely)

I like names from literature best, I want a name that is unique enough to fit in with Arwen but normal enough to work with Lily. Here are some I like, what do you think? Please make suggestions too!

Girls
Scarlett Hermione
Aurora Hermione (too similar-sounding to Arwen?)

Boys
Xander Wallace
Rhett Wallace
Nathaniel Wallace (too normal? Would Arwen seem like the odd name out in the sibset?)

Thanks! :)

Edited to take a few names off the list because DH just vetoed them when he read this post over my shoulder. What a buzz kill. ;)

Re: Hypothetical future sibset

  • Can I just say that I adore Arwen Violet, two GP names for me (but BF would never go for them).
  • I like all of your names, but I do think Aurora and Arwen as a sibset would be a mouthful. At least for myself.

Love Aurora, it's on my list.

Love Nathaniel, Rowan, Arwen, Rose, Edmund and Jasper too.

  • The first girl name that came to mind was Bianca Rose (Shakespeare, flower name to go with Lily and Violet).

  • I've always loved the name Xander but I think I like Rhett better with your DD's names.

I love Aurora with the nn Rory!
Scarlett is a gorgeous name but I'm hearing it a lot lately.

I love PP suggestion of Bianca
  • Adair Opal and Clemens Conrad
  • I like Rhett & Scarlett Hermione the best out of your options. I love Aurora but I think it is too close to Arwen (which I also like!). What about Minerva?

I'm not a big fan of Scarlett and although I love Aurora it is too close to Arwen.

I love Minerva! Adding it to my list. I doubt DH would get on board with it though.

Adair is very pretty but I've never heard of it before. I just googled it and saw that it's unisex, which I usually try to avoid. Good suggestion though! Clemens is not really my personal style but its a good name. Thank you!

I've always loved the name Xander but I think I like Rhett better with your DD's names.

Yeah I like that Rhett has the obvious literary association so it works well with Arwen and Lily. Xander was inspired by Buffy, so even though its not a literary name it still fits in as a bit of a nerdy name.

Unfortunately I have some negative personal associations with Bianca so I doubt I'd use it, despite it being a great name. Don't you hate when people ruin good names? The middle name Hermione kind of ties in the slight flower theme I have as Hermione Roses are a breed of rose. If I choose a very unique first name I plan to use Rose as a middle though. :) Thank you!

Yeah you're probably right about Aurora and Arwen not working. It's too bad because I love the name. Rowan has the same problem of sounding too similar to Arwen too. :( DH vetoed Jasper and Edmund after I wrote my post originally and I can only use Rose as a possible middle. Thanks for your input! :)

Thank you! I'm surprised Violet is a GP name for you, it's pretty mainstream top 100 these days. I definitely see why you consider Arwen gp though. ;)

  • I'm sad I don't get any love :(
  • I think Scarlett and Rhett are the best choices. Have you read House of Mirth by Edith Wharton? It is one of my favorites and the protagonist is Lily Bart, so in keeping with your literary theme.

Whoops! Sorry I didn't see this post when I was responding earlier today. All the love tits to you! :)

I do adore the name Serena! It's actually on my list and the only negative point for it is that its not a literary name. I have no personal connection to it other than thinking its very pretty. Definitely still an option though! Thank you for all the suggestions, those are all good names.

I haven't read that book, I'll have to check it out. Thanks, I love book recs. :) Lily Elizabeth was actually inspired by Lily Potter from HP and Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice.

Yes it is! There is a novel titled Serena. They made a movie as well. It comes out at the end of the month starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

ETA: Not entirely sure what it's about though. All I know is that the main character, Serena, cannot have children.

  • Whaaa?! *runs off to google* is it a good book? Have you read it?

Looks like Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are doing a lot of movies together these days.

I have no idea. I guess I'll have to read it and/or watch the movie.
  • From the looks of it Serena would be considered the villain. Oh well ::shrug::
  • Oh well, it's still a great name. When I was looking it up yesterday I found a movie trailer for another movie titled Serena staring Jennifer Garner. The movie didn't look very good, but I thought you might be interested. *shrug*
