Dog "told" on DH last night LOL

DH had Garrett in the bedroom with him so I could finish up the last 10 minutes of NCIS. I heard Garrett getting upset and was given DH the time to try and calm him down. About 5 min went by and I am busting up laughing because Pepper (German Shepherd) is yelping at DH like he is crying help him. Then she runs into the living room and nudges my leg and runs back to the bedroom. Then I hear DH tell her ok I will take him to Mom.

DH brings him in there and I tell him to make a bottle (we hit an early growth spurt) and all was right in Garrett's world. And Pepper laid down at my feet after licking Garrett's feet to make sure he was fine lol.

I think Pepper thinks this is her baby lol but I was busting up laughing when she tried to get me to help DH lol.

  • If LO gets unusually upset (like when taking her out of the bath and she's cold) our German shepherd Raven will come up behind me and sniff and sniff at LO to make sure she's ok. And anytime either of the dogs come inside they go right to the baby swing to see if she's there and if so to kind of check on her. I'm so glad they've taken so well to her!

  • Lately our dog has been waking up during our motn feeding and laying down in the nursery at the foot of the glider while I nurse LO. Last night, he came in to investigate the sound of the new pump. We were worried how our dog Ramses (100lb blue nose pit) would react to LO, being so big and all. But he has been great, sniffing him, looking for him when he comes inside and now laying down in the nursery with us. At first the crying made him anxious and he would leave the room, but now he's fine.

  • That's so cute! From the stories here, it seems like German Shepherds are so good at wanting to take care of the babies and help out. My dog (cocker spaniel) doesn't give two farts about DD. The closest that she's come now is that she no longer leaves the room when DD cries. If she is around long enough for when DD starts to eat real food and sit at the table in her high chair, I'm sure that my dog will suddenly be way more interested :D

  • I love it! I laughed and teared up at the same time :)
  • That is so incredibly cute. I enjoy hearing about these things. My dogs will never be this way. The older one is jealous that someone else came along to take attention away from him and the younger one just wants to lick our son until the world stops turning.
