I have to say - I don't know all of the facts (don't think anyone does yet) - but it really scared me cause they had a 2 year old in the Range Rover - and I keep thinking - what if that happened to me and the DDs?  What would I have done?

ran over whoever was in your way and dealt with the aftermath later when you were in a safe place. 

That's what I would do, anyway.

But with my kids in the car, GAME ON.  People had better not fuck with my car when the kids are in it.

The guy in the hospital is from my home state, and trust me when I say Lawrence MA ISN'T a city in which you want to be in daytime or nighttime.  So I fully believe the guys he runs with are all db.

Considering all the various "facts" of the case so far presented, and the video, I can say I am fully Team SUV.  I agree that with my child in the car I would have gotten the fuck out of there.  Had it been me alone, there is a chance that I would have called the cops and stayed put.  Maybe.  

I think most people would choose to exit a violent situation like that rather than be victimized.

Definitely team SUV and doing what you have to do to keep your child safe.  I am sorry that the motorcyclist was injured but if don't participate illegal rallies and run with a pack of douchebags, you are much less likely to get harmed.

I read the story yesterday.  I can't watch the video from work and I'm kinda glad.  I can't handle watching someone get beat up.

I'm appalled at this story.   The mom of that biker that was run over keeps trying to tell the reporter that the driver was at fault.  WTF!  I hope that that guy has no repercussions for what he did because he kept his family safe in a very hostile and violent environment.

I read about this the other day (was it just yesterday?) and was like wtf? How/why did the SUV hit the bike? Why did the SUV keep driving? I can understand why the bikers followed (to get the license plate, to call police and alert them of the SUVs location...) but WTF did they beat the guy? This story is too weird.

Huh?

Dude.   The bikers provoked the situation from the get go.  The guy with the broken leg brake checked the SUV, causing it to run into him.  

So how exactly would the bikers not be at fault here?

From the various videos I've seen, the guy in the SUV's only offense was breaking the biker's ranks.

After reading the rest of the posts I gather I do not have enough information. From what I gathered, SUV was trying to drive through a pack of bikes and hit one and took off (not because of threat from bikers). Bikers got pissed and followed.

Did you watch the video? A large group of people were stopping traffic and surrounding his vehicle in a threatening manner after they CLEARLY created the confrontation in the first place. His child was in the car.

I agree with all of you. Team SUV all the way. This whole situation is just fucking ridiculous. Those douchebag crotch rocket riders deserve all the blame on this one. The man in the SUV was just doing what he had to do to protect his family. I would have done the same. Its ON if you try to fuck with me when my kid is in the car. Mama Bear comes out in full force!

I'm the same as @CTGirl30...I feel like I'm hypersensitive to other drivers when DS is in the car with me. MH is the same way also.

A huge group of bikers surrounds your car, screaming and waving and threatening you and you drive away, because your kid is in the car. I can see it happen.

As far as the original tap, the biker brake checked him. It happens.

I think he did stop initially and they started slashing his tires, so he drove off.  That's when the bikers were run over.

He did stop. Then they slashed his tire and all rushed his suv. You would have thought I knew the driver I was so mad. Bikers in clubs who look for trouble anger me.

I watched this yesterday and was overly angry. My SO rides so at first he was trying to not see that the bikers went out looking for trouble.

A lot of them don't have brake lights.  They disconnect them because it draws from the battery and they're constantly on their brakes while doing stunts.  He may not even realized what was really happening, or figured the guy was going to just try to scare him and speed up in 2 seconds.

DH's friend rides for the same company. Knowing him and the crap he does, I would have responded the EXACT same way.  They think nothing of doing 120 mph through rush hour traffic, wheelies up and down the parkway, weaving in and out of lanes, multiple people brake checking people.  

I also know the temper he has and a lot of his friends.  They're all super impulsive and existentialists to the extreme so I have no doubt that they would act without thinking.

It's a group called Hollywood Stuntz and they have had a lot of issues in the past. There's also a video floating around of them beating on a Prius who was driving through a green light while they ran through red lights.

Team SUV here. The mother of the bike guy is all over the news here in MA and pissing me the fuck off. I know she is sad about her son but her son was the one terrorizing a family with a child in the car!! He put his bike in front if the SUV so they couldn't get away!

Apparently, one of the bikers just told CNN that the entire reason this happened was because the SUV broke ranks. 

So, yeah. 

Not the SUV driver's fault at all.

Not a debate. I said both sides were wrong. I am team neither. I just don't feel at that point he had no other options but to plow people down that were nowhere near his truck. After beating him up yeah but not before. I also don't consider the initial bike clip an accident that would have caused him to not think clearly.

He was stopped for the initial bike clip, then they mobbed his vehicle and started slashing his tires.  That's when the thinking became unclear and he ran over someone.  I'm sure he was scared for his family and himself.  No way in fuck would I consider the people slashing my tires safety over the safety of my family.  Fuck them.

That's what breaking ranks means.  It means the SUV cut into the group.
