June 2014 Moms

So nauseous and put off of food, I have to keep drinking a lot of my daily calories :(

My last (and first) pregnancy this was SO not an issue, and I haven't had any morning sickness, but I can barely eat :(

I can eat a lot of fruits and veggies, and sometimes chicken and bread... I tried cheese at one point and that didn't work out well. I'm used to tracking my calories from pre-preg (I am NOT restricting them, just making sure I don't binge... gained 60lbs last time) and I'm barely breaking 1000 cals a day, which is NOT good, but veggies don`t take up much and everything else is gross. I`ve taken to drinking chocolate milk at night to bump up my calories to a respectable level.

... this sucks.

  • I feel you. I feel nauseous if I eat...nauseous if I don't eat...but then sometimes I'll sit down for a meal and just scarf it all down because I'm so ravenous lol. Today is a nauseous day where nothing sounds good. I find that I feel good at the beginning of the day and it just gets worse as the day goes on.

  • Have you tried smoothies?  I lived off smoothies and milkshakes for most of my last pregnancy, too.  I did OJ or milk as a base, a bunch of frozen fruit (ones like bananas and peaches will have more calories, then I used berries for flavor), and I always put a giant scoop of almond butter or egg white protein in there for the protein/calories.  I added the almond butter to my milkshakes as well.  I hope you feel better!

  • You are a genious. Honestly. I didn't even break 1000 today and was really nervous about it.

Aaaaaaand, never knew how to make smoothies, lol. But I always considered them a lower cal option, so I never even considered that.

If I could hug you, I would!

  • Maybe like Ensure as well? I am picking some of that up this week just to get my lacking nutrients.
  • Make sure you can drink Ensure when pregnant.  I had a friend who said she wasn't supposed to drink the Carnation instant breakfast stuff while pregnant, but I can't remember why.  Smoothies are great because you can totally tailor them to your tastes.  Just grab your blender and experiment :).

  • Hm, have you thought about having some plain crackers? It might cleanse your palate and help keep your belly feeling full between meals. I have friends who swore by their crackers during the first tri... During my first pregnancy, I think I ate only bland food and citrus. Didn't have a blender then, but smoothies are a great idea! Adding some ice to make sure they are cold may help a lot.

Ooh I had no idea. I will definitely look into it. Thanks!

Seems to be okay, and often recommended by doctors to help, especially if weight gain is needed =]
