I think we have a boy's name. Paul Clyde. Please discuss. Paul because we like it and Clyde was DH's grandpa. Last name is swedish, similar to Svenson. neither of us is in love with Clyde but we both agree the family significance is more important to us than the actual name, especially in the MN spot. DD1 also has a weird MN, DD is Nathalie (pronounced Natalie) Ylda. Ylda was my aunt. Our criteria was names spelled the same and pronounced more or less the same in French and English (obviously we failed with DD and went with the French spelling!) and none of DH's friends ' names, which pretty much rules out every nice traditional name. Also no S names because we don't want SS initials. I don't really care about the flow of FN-MN or the sibset, but I'm curious to know what you think. Any bad associations I'm not thinking of? BTW I'm only 6 weeks along so lots of time left to change my mind a million time! Thanks for the opinions.

I like Paul! It's one of those solid boy names you don't hear much on kids born now.

Also, my dad's name is Clyde (my grandfather was Clyde as well). I wanted to use it as DS's middle name, but we went with my maiden name instead. I sort of wish I'd pushed harder for Clyde.

Very nice combination! Paul is a strong, masculine and somewhat forgotten name. I never hear it on little kids anymore, and that's a shame.

And I honestly love Clyde. My youngest sister graduated high school with a boy named Clyde, and it suited him really well. I think it's a really cool name, and sounds great with Paul!

I love Paul, but it just doesn't work with my last name

I really love the family connection with Clyde. All of my kids have family MN but DS2 has one I don't like at all, but it was very important to DH. Meaning trumps sound for me. Great choice!

A vote for Paul here! I am biased however since that is my son's name.

I find it to be a very strong name, one to grow on and not overly popular. Over the years it has been funny to get such a great reaction to this name. To the extreme more than one person told me it's refreshing to hear such a great name again. Go figure....good luck.
