Went for my first dr appointment today. I knew it would be with the nurse, but my understanding was that it would be for blood work and medical history stuff. Nope. Paid my $25 copay to pee in a cup and have them tell me I'm "officially" pregnant. Now I'm scheduled for 2 more appointments this month... 1 for blood work and the 2nd for a physical with my ob. There goes $75 total. So annoyed. Thanks for listening!

FYI: You will have weekly OB visits toward the end.  So...uh...get used to it?

Christina how far along are you??? I go next Thursday I'll be 7w3d and I'm hoping for more than that :-/

That does seem weird that they'd have you come in just for the pee in a cup and not at least do the blood work same day. I didn't really meet with my OB for my first appointment, but they did do both of those things and are having me in a little before 9 weeks for a dating u/s.

I think having to go weekly in the last month is a little different.

I know thaaat :P my frustration stems from a miscommunication between my dr office and myself. I was under the impression I was getting more bang for my buck at this appointment.

@kitchencolors I know, right?! Thankfully the first test I took at home was free! Ha

That is wack! Ask if there is a prenatal package! At my OB I pay the co pay once then a flat rate that includes monthly appointments and all that goes along with them! And I can pay that alittle at a time or all at once.

Mine did the same but I was able to ask for the blood work to be done so that way we could have it at my first u/a at 8 weeks. Sometimes you just have to tell them what you want/need.

Wow, that would add up quickly! I guess I'm lucky that I pay a one time copay at my first visit and nothing else after that.
