When to "get ready"

Hello ladies!

I will be 33 weeks tomorrow. I am a STM but feel like I have forgotten everything from the first time...

Have you all:

Installed the carseat,

Washed the clothes,

Washed the blankets

Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM

Sanitized the teethers if STM

Packed the hospital bag?

Re: When to "get ready"

  • Errrrr- I haven't even looked for the carseat and bases in the garage.

    I'm 35 weeks...

I've washed the clothes and packed the bag for the hospital- however I only have 2 blankets. And I just ordered bottles from Amazon because I'll be breast feeding and pumping.

I have an arms reach co-sleeper that I've been saying I am going to set up for about 2 weeks now. We are moving from Indiana to South Florida in December so we have no furniture for baby- at all besides the co-sleeper & glider.

I feel totally unprepared.... yet very prepared.
  • Want to clean the upholstery on the glider.
Need to purchase and install car seat.
Need to purchase and assemble the swing.
Need to convert DS2's old toddler bed back into a crib.
Need to sort through and wash all the hand me down clothes and determine what we still need. Although, I doubt we need anything.
Need to rent the breast pump.
Need to get a couple of bottles.

  • I'm 35w2d. Laundry's all done. Most of the diapers are prepped. Baby's bag is packed but mine isn't. Don't have the car seat installed or the PNP/swing/bouncer put together yet. I figure all of the actual packing/putting together can be done while I'm in early labor and I'll get the car seat installed at like 37-38w. It'll be a PITA to have it in the car before that.

  • check, check, and check! Everything except my hospital bag, which I'll pack during early labor. I have been a SAHW for a couple of months now so I had LOADS of time on my hands to get stuff done early...now I feel like I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting for LO to get here. Wishing I had saved some stuff to do to keep me busy

  • Well, at a little over 34 weeks I have some things done.  We have purchased the car seat and it is out of the box...but has yet to be installed. I have sorted the clothes and they just need washed and hung up. The blankets and bath towels are washed and ready. All of the furniture and other baby needs are set up and ready to go, but I still need to make a few important purchases like cradle sheets. About half of the diapers are prepped. I'm waiting on my last few pieces to complete the stash. The hospital bag is not packed either.

I felt more prepared prior to responding to this post!

  • I have done none of that. I plan to start washing things this week. I still need to get new pump parts and milk bags. I need three small baskets for a shelf. I need to get a few drop in bottles and liners, a couple of pacifiers, and some burp cloths. Other than that I am done with purchases.

  • Only 32weeks, but this is what I have accomplished
Infant seat arrived, waiting to buy a second base from someone on my local mom board.
Will be purchasing the convertable seat this week for good measure, amazon mom sale.
I have a good selection of 0-3 month stuff in dresser drawers.
Purchased several nursing bras, hope to have 2 pumps purchased by nov 1
Based on my registry we are in good shape after our shower on sunday.
Crib and dresser are set up, rocking chair arrives in 3 weeks.
We go to our hospital class at the end of the month.
I'm feeling pretty good about where we are, but I know come nov I will feel less so.

  • 33 weeks tomorrow as well and FTM.
Yesterday we installed car seat base in one car, but still have second base for second vehicle to go. Probably should try to put car seat in base while in car as well, heh.

No washing done, yet, but did buy the laundry detergent to do so....also yesterday.

Yesterday I looked at a list of things to put in hospital bag, but not actually packed.

Other yesterday activities (we were on a roll of attempts of being productive) was start reading the Bradley Method book we purchased months ago and read up on birth plan options. Still pretty much leaning towards knowing our options and going withthe flow.

Oh, oh, oh! I made a list of things we need to get accomplished before baby arrives as well! Hahahaha, slightly hysterical laugh.

  • Just finished putting the rock n play together, but everything else has been done.  Will be 35 weeks on Thursday but due to my high BP and PTL, he could come any day now so I needed to take care of the things I could control to avoid obsessing over the ones I cannot :)
  • I am 32 weeks and I haven't done anything.  I will start preparing things in the next couple of weeks.  I still have a lot of energy and feel about as mobile as the pre-pregnant me, so I'm not too worried.  If I happen to go into labor really early, I figure I have my husband, mom, and mother-in-law to help.  As for right now, I am enjoying these last few weeks of doing my own thing before my life becomes consumed by my sweet little one :)
  • Things are washed and put away. Crib and swing are set up.  I won't install the carseat til it's needed. I haven't packed the hospital bag but will make sure it's done by 37 weeks.  There's only about 5 items I'd bother taking so I figure it's NBD if I have to pack while in labor.
  • 32 weeks and have done next to nothing. Such a slacker. We just had our shower yesterday, so now I know what we have and still need and can get the ball rolling. Up until now, I have had zero nesting urges. Guess I'm gonna be busy the next 7 weeks!
  • 33 w and sort of. I have a base in my car for work. Honestly it takes two minutes to put in, so no big deal, not sure who will be bringing us home. I might install it during labor.

Most clothes and blankets are washed. As I sort through shower gifts I wash them and put aside tethers and stuff to wash/sanitize. Just pulled out my bag yesterday but I probably won't pack for a few weeks still.

When I set up swing/pack and play in a couple of weeks I'll wash the covers.

    Clearly I think I have time. ;)

  • I'll be 34 weeks on Friday. I have everything done except installing the car seat and packing my bag. My husband makes fun of me because everything is put together and just sitting in our formal living room waiting .... Better safe than sorry! I will most pack my bag and install the car seat when I get to 36 weeks
  • I'm a STM, 35w3d, and I haven't done ANYTHING! My DH won't let me get the clothes all out, unpacked, and washed until we have a dresser to put them in. We won't have the dresser until we do our big order of baby stuff from Amazon using our completion discount, which I think we should get on Wednesday. I asked DH to put the car seat in the car and he came in, all proud of himself for doing it. I went out there to check and he literally just placed the base in the car, not strapped in, with the actual seat part in the garage. Seriously? We have a long way to go to be ready, but at least we own everything we need to bring baby home, it's just a matter of getting everything out and clean.

34 weeks today too.  I've installed one of the car seat bases (but haven't had it checked), signed up with the diaper service, am meeting with the pediatrician next week, and have bought a dresser from IKEA to use as a changing table.  Oh, and I've washed tons of clothes.  I'm really good at washing clothes.

I have not installed the other base, we still need to get a co-sleeper, the dresser isn't assembled, I need to get a key for the diaper delivery guy (we're in an apartment) and my parents (who'll be coming out to help), there are a bunch of things that need cleaning or repair, and I feel like I'm running out of time!

ETA: Oh, and forget about the hospital bag.  I have a vague mental list of some things I'd like in it, but I keep getting distracted by other things.

  • Installed the carseat: no it's still in a box in the attic
Washed the clothes: I've washed the hand me downs SIL gave us when I sorted them but none that we've bought or been given new
Washed the blankets: nope they're in a pile in the guest room but I did get them out of storage
Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM: haven't washed any covers yet
Sanitized the teethers if STM: my DD still uses some, she's not quite 2 so they're in the freezer. I did run all non freezer rings through the dishwasher but DD has been playing with them since they are "new" so I'll have to do it again.
Packed the hospital bag?: nope I've made a list of things to go in it but I probably won't pack for a couple more weeks as I'm not likely to go into labor early.

I've mostly been working my way through the laundry piles after sorting through storage, organizing/setting up the shared nursery, and making it through the day with a nearly 2 year old in addition to regular life chores and responsibility. Each week I check off one or two things and feel certain it will all get done in time.

  • I'm 33 weeks and haven't done any of that stuff.

The only thing I've really done to prepare for baby are to sew up some diapers and longies and clean out a couple of drawers for baby's clothes to go.  (Which I still haven't dug out of storage or washed yet!)

I feel like I need to get the rest of my house really organized and cleaned  before I bring all this baby stuff in.  But the kids have been begging me to get the clothes out so we can look through them.

    Installed the carseat: Nope

Washed the clothes: Not even close

Washed the blankets: Still need to buy these

Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM: FYI You should not wash the actual carseat cover that comes with your carseat.  It can void the warranty.  We haven't even pulled the swing / bouncer / playmat out from storage.

    Packed the hospital bag? Nope.

I have been contracting like crazy lately, so I am torn between taking it easy to keep LO cooking for 2 more weeks, and getting everything done that needs to get done! I will be relieved when I get past 37 weeks and it is fine to go any time.
