Re: When to "get ready"
Need to purchase and install car seat.
Need to purchase and assemble the swing.
Need to convert DS2's old toddler bed back into a crib.
Need to sort through and wash all the hand me down clothes and determine what we still need. Although, I doubt we need anything.
Need to rent the breast pump.
Need to get a couple of bottles.
Well, at a little over 34 weeks I have some things done. We have purchased the car seat and it is out of the box...but has yet to be installed. I have sorted the clothes and they just need washed and hung up. The blankets and bath towels are washed and ready. All of the furniture and other baby needs are set up and ready to go, but I still need to make a few important purchases like cradle sheets. About half of the diapers are prepped. I'm waiting on my last few pieces to complete the stash. The hospital bag is not packed either.
I felt more prepared prior to responding to this post!
Infant seat arrived, waiting to buy a second base from someone on my local mom board.
Will be purchasing the convertable seat this week for good measure, amazon mom sale.
I have a good selection of 0-3 month stuff in dresser drawers.
Purchased several nursing bras, hope to have 2 pumps purchased by nov 1
Based on my registry we are in good shape after our shower on sunday.
Crib and dresser are set up, rocking chair arrives in 3 weeks.
We go to our hospital class at the end of the month.
I'm feeling pretty good about where we are, but I know come nov I will feel less so.
Yesterday we installed car seat base in one car, but still have second base for second vehicle to go. Probably should try to put car seat in base while in car as well, heh.
No washing done, yet, but did buy the laundry detergent to do so....also yesterday.
Yesterday I looked at a list of things to put in hospital bag, but not actually packed.
Other yesterday activities (we were on a roll of attempts of being productive) was start reading the Bradley Method book we purchased months ago and read up on birth plan options. Still pretty much leaning towards knowing our options and going withthe flow.
Oh, oh, oh! I made a list of things we need to get accomplished before baby arrives as well! Hahahaha, slightly hysterical laugh.
Most clothes and blankets are washed. As I sort through shower gifts I wash them and put aside tethers and stuff to wash/sanitize. Just pulled out my bag yesterday but I probably won't pack for a few weeks still.
When I set up swing/pack and play in a couple of weeks I'll wash the covers.
Clearly I think I have time.
I have not installed the other base, we still need to get a co-sleeper, the dresser isn't assembled, I need to get a key for the diaper delivery guy (we're in an apartment) and my parents (who'll be coming out to help), there are a bunch of things that need cleaning or repair, and I feel like I'm running out of time!
ETA: Oh, and forget about the hospital bag. I have a vague mental list of some things I'd like in it, but I keep getting distracted by other things.

Well lordy, I feel like a slacker! I'm only 32 weeks, that's two whole months left, right?
m/c: 9/06/12
LTB: 10/23/13
Washed the clothes: I've washed the hand me downs SIL gave us when I sorted them but none that we've bought or been given new
Washed the blankets: nope they're in a pile in the guest room but I did get them out of storage
Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM: haven't washed any covers yet
Sanitized the teethers if STM: my DD still uses some, she's not quite 2 so they're in the freezer. I did run all non freezer rings through the dishwasher but DD has been playing with them since they are "new" so I'll have to do it again.
Packed the hospital bag?: nope I've made a list of things to go in it but I probably won't pack for a couple more weeks as I'm not likely to go into labor early.
I've mostly been working my way through the laundry piles after sorting through storage, organizing/setting up the shared nursery, and making it through the day with a nearly 2 year old in addition to regular life chores and responsibility. Each week I check off one or two things and feel certain it will all get done in time.
Installed the carseat, Not yet.
Washed the clothes, Yes, finished that this weekend.
Washed the blankets, Yes, finishing the last of them as we speak.
Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM N/A
Sanitized the teethers if STM N/A
Packed the hospital bag? Yes, and baby's bag is packed as well.
We still haven't put up our swing and need to put together the glider. I don't even have our crib yet but it has been on back order. It doesn't concern me though since he's sleeping in our room for at least the first 3 months.
Packed the hospital bag?: Not yet, but I forsee the baby being packed. Everything I need is in use until I have to go.
The only thing I've really done to prepare for baby are to sew up some diapers and longies and clean out a couple of drawers for baby's clothes to go. (Which I still haven't dug out of storage or washed yet!)
I feel like I need to get the rest of my house really organized and cleaned before I bring all this baby stuff in. But the kids have been begging me to get the clothes out so we can look through them.

Installed the carseat: Nope
Washed the clothes: Not even close
Washed the blankets: Still need to buy these
Washed the carseat covers/swing cover/etc if STM: FYI You should not wash the actual carseat cover that comes with your carseat. It can void the warranty. We haven't even pulled the swing / bouncer / playmat out from storage.

Packed the hospital bag? Nope.
I'm on the ball, can you tell?

I have been contracting like crazy lately, so I am torn between taking it easy to keep LO cooking for 2 more weeks, and getting everything done that needs to get done! I will be relieved when I get past 37 weeks and it is fine to go any time.
