in hospital newborn pics

I feel like this may have been discussed before but not sure. Ages ago when I was born they took 1 hospital photo which was you in the plastic bassinet. Nothing fancy. I looked at what my hospital does and they have a photographer there that comes and takes pics that are more fancy pants. You can get the photos taken and if you like them then you can purchase them. No commitment. The annoying thing is they have no prices listed! I know I'll want some once I see the little nugget in perfect lighting haha Is anyone planning on doing the in hospital photos? And does your hospital work like this too?

These are some of the images from the hospital photogs portfolio. Is it weird that I kinda want a standard kid in bassinet looking pissed off photo?

Our hospital offers this, too. I haven't gone so far as to look at their portfolio. I feel VERY sure the prices will be astronomical.

@sleepy33 thats what I was thinking too. If they don't show the prices it can't be good lol

I wish my hospital had that. They have no information on their photographer, no way to find out anything or see any samples or anything.
My OB has a board on his wall with pictures of babies he's delivered. There are quite a few with the same look, and they're awful. I think those are the hospital pics. Looks like a generic blotchy pink and blue backdrop is laid down under baby's head and photo is snapped. Not paying for that. No way.

We did those pics last time and our package had awesome poses. I think I paid $75 for the disc and printed out at Costco. They gave me the release letter.

Our hospital offers the photos but I don't think they take them unless you commit to buying them.

With our last baby, we delivered at a really tiny hospital (we were the only family in l&d the whole time we were there), so they didn't have anything like that.  SIL had in-hospital photos taken and they were gorgeous.  I'm still jealous.

My hospital only does the standard pic in the bassinet, at least that was how it was when I had ds 2.5 years ago.

Those are some cute pics though, but I would also be scared since no prices are listed. I would ask around to the nurses to see if they know anything.

I want to get the pictures my hospital offers, they have a photo studio... But I'm also guessing they are pricey, they offer no prices on the hospital website. DH already said no way (assuming they cost to much), but I know I can change his mind, if I want them bad enough!

When DS was born they had a kiosk thing in a room where you could roll the bassinet under it and take your own pictures and then insert a credit card to have them printed out. The prices were insane so we just took our own.

In my info packet for the hospital it said that have prof photographers too that you can order packages from. I just want that typical newborn pic, and then we are hiring a professional to come to our house within the first 10 days to take pics.

My hospital offers a newborn photographer... they will go to every room and offer to do a shoot (usually about 2 hours) and you don't have to commit to purchasing before the shoot

After she is done, she shows you the packages and prices... ranging from $300-$900 (with prints) I believe the cd with photos is around $200

In all honesty though, she has TONS of props and the pictures really do come out awesome! This is her fulltime job and she makes all her props!

With my daughter the prices weren't too bad. The pictures were so adorable that I had to get some!

Our does that too. It's Bella Baby (not sure if they're in multiple states)... Let me know I have the price list.

We did this with DD#1 and they turned out great. It was Bella Baby and we paid $125 for the disc with printing rights. You don't have to commit to purchasing until after you see the photos which is nice. We will probably get them with this LO too.

I've been wondering if my hospital does newborn photos-there is nothing on the website. If their pricing is ridiculous i'd rather chose my own photographer. I hope they offer something though.

At my hospital, the photographer came in to our room and seemed pretty flexible on what photos to take.  We put him in the outfit/hat we wanted and used the blanket we brought as a backdrop. They asked whether we wanted to be in any of the pictures.  I could have totally asked them to take a picture in his bassinet if I wanted. I think they will do whatever you want that will get you to buy pictures! I don't recall the prices for everything, but the CD with all of the pics was around $110, a coffee table book of all the pics was $54, and they had various packages (the most expensive of which I believe was $250).  The prices were way cheaper than regular photographers in my area.

Ours uses Bella Baby too and the disk was $150. The pics were good and we bought them when DS was born...but we had professional photos done at our home the first week he was home and those were amazing. So, not sure if we will buy the hospital ones again this time or just go with the pro pics once home. It is a nice service though.

Our hospital does newborn photos, but I haven't seen any examples of them.  On our tour I did see a sign on one of the doors that said "please do not enter, baby is having (his/her) photo taken."

Maybe I will go see if I can find a portfolio for my hospital.  They brochure did not have prices listed either.

My hospital also has professional newborn photos available, but I think you have to request that a photographer come to you.  They don't just show up automatically.  I definitely want to get them done though =)

My hospital list the prices online and some of them are really exspensive but I'm gonna look and see how muh they are when I take them

Our hospital still does the more standard photo, but takes six pictures. I will probably order a small package. Last time I order a large package. They are still sitting in my closet.

Our hospital does this but it is called mom365 and I think we spend around $200 for the cd of all the pictures and then they came to our house to take pictures at 3,6 and 12 months. Each time it was $100 for the cd of them all but they were really good and they came to our house to do the pictures.

My hospital does this but I also have a friend that got us as a session as a gift. The photographer to come to the house in the first 2 weeks and takes cute pics.  But Im sure my ass is gonna buy some of the 1 day pics too because Im a sucker for adorable things.

Our hospital uses Baby Faces which appears to be a chain.  I looked at their pricing and packages look to start around $40, but you can purchase all images on a flash drive for $140.00.  I will probably just purchase the flash drive and print off what I want at Wal-Mart or Walgreens.  All of their package prices seemed pretty reasonable to me.

They push the naked baby pics which I am ok with, but I will probably have her covered by the blanket my aunt knitted for her before she passed away.  Plus I have one outfit I want her photographed in.

My hospital started it after DD1 was born. I declined the traditional photos with DD1 because they freak me out. With DD2, they sent in a real photographer but it was bad timely so I declined. I may let them take good photos this time. I'd love it if they could do it when my older two are visiting.

They told us at our hospital class that they had a photographer come around but since he was in the NICU I guess we never got pics. I'm still disappointed :(

We did the photo shoot thing the first time and they hit us with the prices afterward--8 photos on a disc for $165 was the least expensive package (ouch). I'm pretty sure we laughed at the photographer when she showed us the price list. Declined...

Our hospital does this too. I had them come for our last baby and all the photographer did was PISS OFF my brand new baby! I swear she was nearly shaking her to try to "settle her down". Not impressed at all. I told her to leave after about 5 min and to not come back for another try. This time, we scheduled a professional newborn photographer that we know and love to take Reed's photos...he'll have them done next Monday!

Ditto, our hospital contracts with this chain called Bella Baby - their website pics are amazing, but I feel like they are probably going to try and take advantage of us in our "we just had our first baby!" euphoria.  AND they don't list prices. Which makes things smell just a bit funny to me.

I'm of the opinion that I'm not writing them off, and if they get a super cute one I might buy, just no commitments at the hospital! They have a 2 week window to order, so I'll do that if we decide to get any at all from the hospital photographer.  We also scheduled a newborn photo session with a photog that actually has reasonable prices and a nice portfolio, so maybe get a backup as well??
