My husband and I were liking Gianna / Giuliana for our first girl and I met a little baby in babies r us today names Capri and thought it was so cute... Thoughts?
Capri is more of a place name/surname than a first name if you're looking for a traditionally Italian first name. My daughter's name is an Italian place name/surname, but it's my mom's maiden name and we used it knowing that giving a place name/surname as a first name is more of an American thing. Gianna and Giuliana are both nice.

I really like Gianna and Giuliana. Both are so pretty. But I think Capri is really fun and punchy. I get a different vibe from it than from the other two, so it kind of depends what you want from the name.
Just to throw one more in the mix... My husband is not a full blooded italian like I am and suggested Kennedy which I also think is a great name, thoughts? Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts so far!

Kennedy is miles behind the other three. It feels really dated and trendy; it was popular in my hometown area about ten years ago, and I'm always surprised to hear it on babies, because I assumed that trend was over. Giuliana and Gianna are classic Italian names. Capri is a fun, more modern way to honor your heritage. Kennedy is none of those things.
I really like Capri. If I remember correctly, the last time I saw it on this board it didn't go over so well. I find it fresh and cute. Your other two are very nice too.
I've known a Capri. Italy was not the first thing that came to mind when I met her. I kept thinking "like the pants? Or the juice drink?" It was just hard for me to take the name seriously. Your other two names are very classic and classy. I think they will be easier to love for decades to come.
I think of cropped pants, juice pouches, and the island, in that order. I wouldn't consider Capri an Italian girl's name- it's a place name that is not traditionally used as a first name in Italy (to the best of my knowledge). I think both Gianna and Giuliana are very pretty, much nicer than Kennedy imo! Kennedy seems a bit past its prime to me.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the island is pronounced KAH-pree? Which makes it nicer than the juice boxes and much nicer than Kennedy. But significantly worse than Gianna and Giuliana.
I wouldn't mind Capri as a fun middle name but G names much prettier for fn. Unlike others I dont' hate Kennedy but I do agree it's a far cry from your beautiful G names.
Gianna is our number one baby girl name, so that gets my vote. But in all honesty, I don't think I like Capri no matter what. Like others, the first think that comes to mind is the pants, not the island. Although I'll take Capri over Kennedy, which I have never liked on a girl.

Hmm... I pronounce the island and the pants and the juice box all the same... Kah-Pree. How do you pronounce the juice box?

You are correct on the pronunciation of the island. I'd bet the pants and the drink were both named for the island too, but Americans pronounce it incorrectly (like Notre Dame University.)
I don't hate Capri as a place name, but I think Giana is much better.

You probably put the emphasis on the second syllable, kah PREE. In Italian, the emphasis is on the first syllable.

Yes. The island has a different pronunciation. I can't explain it. Capp-Ri, rather than Cah-Pre
Just lurking - but as a teacher, Gianna and Giavanna are uber common - I have 3 Giannas in one class so I don't like either one. And I think Julianna should be spelled like I did as opposed to Giulianna. Also, Capri is a last name.
Would have been fine 15 years ago. Now it's a name for a type of pants.
You wouldn't name your child Shawl, Cardigan, or Blazer, would you? Seriously, if I had a child in my class named Capri, all I would think every time I called attendance was "those parents named their child after pants."

ETA both these over Kennedy
gianna and Giuliana are a mill ion times better then Capri.
fruit juice and pants = capri
capri = beautiful island
if you are truly wanting an Italian name use the G names
capri is like Brooklyn to me
Capri makes me think stripper for some reason.
Kennedy - no
Love Gianna
I don't hate Capri as a place name, but I think Giana is much better.
I prefer Gianna, but I don't hate pp's suggestion of Gianna Capri. I prefer Capri as a middle name more than a first name.
