Blood in my stool

I just went to the bathroom and noticed that I had blood in my stool. I figure this isn't something to be too concerned about, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or if anyone knows what causes it?

Was it a lot? Was it bright red or black?

Usually it's from hemorrhoids if it's streaky or small amounts on what is otherwise a normal stool.

If the blood is black it means that the blood has been digested so it has come from the upper part of your gastrointestinal tract. If it is bright red it came from your lower gastrointestinal tract. It could be from a hemorrhoid or it could be a small tear just inside the anus called a fisher. You just don't know till you get checked out.

Yes, this is a better explanation. Fisher=fissure though. Though, I had bright red once and it was from koolaid. Freaked me out!

Beets too! H freaks out every time we have them.

It was probably just a hard poop or hemorrhoid. I was hospitalized in January for bleeding stomach ulcers and if it was something like that you would definitely know.

I try not to google my health problems. I think it usually does more harm than good for me. All sorts of stuff pops up!

It was red. And it was only a little.
BUT I definitely didn't eat beets, and I can't remember eating anything red. Except red vines??

If it was red and only a little bit it is more than likely from a hemmorhoid or anal fissure.

I had this in the first trimester when I was really constipated and pushing harder than I should have.  It was just a little red streak when I wipe, not dripping or anything like that.

if you are worried then call your dr. none of us can tell you what/why/how.

I'm not really worried. More curious.. Thanks for the input ladies!
