My husband and I both have our concealed weapons permit. I do not carry daily, but sometimes he needs to hand the pistol off to me so I carry it. legally.
The questions that people are asking about situational awareness are like asking a soccer player where are you going to go with the ball in the middle of the game and do what with it...? There are so many factors that an inexperienced shooter has NO IDEA about it's impossible to come up with a real answer. I've quizzed my hubs - who carries daily - on what would happen in xyz situation and he always ends up asking me a billion questions before I give up realizing that he's a well trained professional and knows what the fuck he's doing. No he's not a cop.
fuck you to whomever made the general comment that people who legally carry weapons are hot headed idiot maniacs etc. You're false assumption seems to be that people who go the legal route are at the same level of society scum as the people who choose to rob at gunpoint.
And btw just because someone draws their gun (in defense of whatever situation) doesn't mean they will shoot it.
Just because this pot is nice and hot already (and I have no shame posting this before going back to my disgusting amounts of assigned reading)... I have been told (this does not mean I agree) by MANY Marines/Sheriffs/professional gun smiths/etc that if I am home alone and someone breaks into my house and threatens to cause me or my family harm (I'm sure there's a more specific legal phrase): Shoot to kill... Why? Because a dead person cannot defend themselves in court.
@Kacie the lovely hot head gun wielding maniac comment came from Kalpa521. Precious hunh #-o
I've been held up at gunpoint at a gas station in downtown Detroit in broad daylight. Nobody did a thing. But in a way I am grateful because although he got my purse and money I'm alive. I don't know if that would be the case if I, the person I was with, or anyone else pulled out a gun. My uncle who owns a shop in the states was held up at gun point. Instead of handing over the cash he went for his gun. The robber shot and killed him. I understand his need and right to defend himself, but I still wish he hasn't because maybe he would be alive today. The surveillance videos showed clearly that the robber only went to shoot when he saw my uncle was going for his gun.
All seriousness aside, of all the people I could have pissed off why oh why did I choose those with guns!! Doh!
We were stuck in a gas station when it got held up, my mum unfortunately between the gunman and cashier. It was the scariest thing ever to see a gun pointed at my mum, but do I think if someone else had a gun, it would have defused the situation? Maybe, maybe not. Luckily no one was hurt, but shit like this happens regardless of the gun laws. This was in New Zealand where no one carries guns (not even cops).
I dislike guns. I don't see a need for them, BUT it's probably because I don't live in a dangerous area.
Just because I don't like them doesn't mean I'm going to argue or talk down to someone who does.
So I wasn't going to say anything and I'll just leave it at this. I do find it interesting that hate and oppose are verbs, which take action, and an opinion is a noun.
Hate- verb 1. to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest
Oppose- verb 1. to act against or provide resistance to; combat.
Opinion- noun 1. a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty. 2. a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
I will say there was a pastor, or someone of that rank, who wanted to burn korans (the Muslim bible) here. I consider that hate. But someone saying they are for or against something is a personal view point, opinion, which I don't consider.
DH is gone for the weekend so I had two different kinds of ice cream for dinner. Moose tracks and chocolate toffee. I might just do the same thing tomorrow.
I don't eat CFA often, but mostly because I ate it almost daily in college and got burnt out! But for those who boycott it for the reason that the owner is anti-gay marriage, do you look into where all the other companies you spend your money with donate their proceeds? The only reason we know about CFA is because it was publicized. What about McDonalds? Walmart? Target? Clothing stores? Cell phone service? Insurance companies? ... and everywhere else we shop and spend our money?
I couldn't agree more. I support gay marriage and love chickfila's food!
Seriously? I don't get it. At all. If a man opened up a restaurant and it was public knowledge that the organizations money was funding groups that support violence against women and I not only chose to eat there but said things like 'People who boycott them are stupid', I could not in good conscious call myself a feminist.
Well first of all I don't think I would call myself a feminist. I don't care if people want to boycott for that reason but there are a ton of large corporations who have CEOs that are doing things that most of us wouldn't support. I know this was already said but look into Walmart, target, etc and you'll find questionable crap.
With the presidents comments aside, Chickfila store operators do something that most fast food restaurants don't; they treat their employees and all customers with respect. I'm not trying to defend what he said or what he's doing because I don't agree with it but I'm not going to stop eating there.
On a side note, I'm going to watch my cousin marry his partner in NYC in a few months so obviously I support gay marriage.
I hate how this new format saves my draft, if I didn't post it I didn't for a reason. Usually because I forgot my point. I don't want it to keep popping up. Ok not a FFFC worthy but its bugging me. That and if I don't post something it keeps showing up.
My confession is for the past like week I have had a lot of soda (like 2ish a day) and only like a 1-2 bottles of water. I was doing so good about drinking water. I think it is because the weather is getting cooler and naturally a cold water sounds and taste so much better when it's hot outside.
Also, my neighbor below me is having a huge party. She warned me earlier that she was going to have "some people over and they would try to keep it down". Some guy keeps yelling "Woooooo" and I am hearing all kinds of slamming and super loud music and crap. My confession is, I just want to knock on her door and punch her in the face, then go back up to my apartment and go to sleep, lol.

While sleeping Has anyone dreamed they were sitting on the toilet going pee only to wake up and realize your not actually on the toilet or even in the bathroom and your starting to pee just enough to wet your panties but not your bed?
This has happened to myself twice since being pregnant with baby number 3.....
So embarrassing, now I feel ridiculously stupid for asking this question to others.....my DH teases me about it...darn why did i even tell him about it?
And the dream literally seems sooooooo real it's freaky...

That's wonderful. I've seen many of my friends get married. Also in my hometown of NYC.
I was best person for my gay best friend's wedding and he was my Man oh Honor at my wedding.
Yay for the gays, boo to guns and chickfilas!
