But I don't wanna!!!

image
GIFSoup At my appointment today, my doctor said she will likely induce me at 39 weeks due to my gestational hypertension. She also said that my cervix is "unfavorable" and only 1 cm dilated. Yeah no shit, it felt like she was about to touch my eyeballs with how far she had to reach up there to feel it. I'm still on bed rest so I can't do anything to help my cervix progress (walking, sex, etc) nor do I really want to because I would love for it to happen naturally. I'm just afraid that we will get to 39 weeks and my body and baby aren't ready and we will induce and it will be a horrible unending nightmare that will only end with a c-section. Womp womp.... I'm just having a whine fest over here today because it seems this labor and delivery scenario is turning into exactly what I didn't want but I can't really do much about it. Ugh anywho, I'm resorting to motivational speeches to baby and mentally willing my body to be ready before induction so it can happen naturally and safely. Okay I'm done whining! Hope y'all enjoyed this ipad paragraph...lol.

  • Blah, I'm sorry! Hopefully your cervix will make some progress before then. How frustrating!

  • Can you do epo? There is also nipple stimulation & pressure points. Nothing will help unless your body & the baby are ready, but they are worth a shot. ....of course check to make sure those are all viable options.

  • I'm looking at induction at 39 weeks too, due to GD. No bed rest, so once I hit 38 weeks, I'm trying EVERYTHING I can to get this baby to come out (okay, not everything- castor oil is so not happening). I want to do this as natural as possible and don't think I can handle the extra intense contractions that go along with induction, not to mention the increased rate of C-section. But I've come to terms with it and understand my doctor's reasoning. I've still got two appointments to try to get him to change his mind, but I'm not going to fight his recommendation because he's the medical professional, and this is for medical reasons.

What's epo? I forgot about nipple stimulation! I'm just torn because I want to try things to help it along, but I also want to let it happen naturally and not force something to happen too early. Idk I just feel like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.

  • Cervix not being ready at 37 weeks--assuming your ticker is right--doesn't mean anything for 39 weeks. Hopefully things will get started by then!

  • @huntjul Yep you are right about that, I just got really anxious today because I was basically put on a deadline. For all I know this LO may not want to come out until 42 weeks or it could be tomorrow. Bed rest is not helping with my anxiety in these last few weeks...lol

  • Awwww girl hang in there!!!!! You can try Primrose oil to soften your cervix... And you can totes have sex on bedrest. Lol. I hope your cervix cooperates in the next few weeks so an induction is NOT even needed. I'll be induced at 37 because of the pre e... 2 more weeks and my cervix was 4.9 cm, hard, posterior and shut tight. Very very very unfavorable (but duh I'm just 35 weeks). You've got time. Just breathe

  • EPO is evening primrose oil. They look like Vit E capsules & you can take them orally or vaginally.
  • I'm sorry you're stressing, I would be too. But 2 weeks is still enough time for your body to get things going on its own. I was checked at 38, no dilation and just a little effaced. A week later I'm 50% effaced and 2.5, so there's hope! I didn't do ANYTHING but eat eggplant parm and pineapple, so even if you know it's just an OWT don't knock it. And pep talks to baby will help YOU, too. Good luck!

  • I need @amkester luck. Maybe I can cough at my next appointment and dilate 9 more centimeters and then sneeze and she will just float out of my vagina....I just want a little bit of that luck. Seriously. Lol...

I know that you don't want an induction that sucks but I do hope that your cervix progresses. Today my dr told me I was 1cm and 50% eff he said that since it is becoming stretchy and thin that I had a better chance at having a successful vaginal birth if they had to induce me so I hope it's the same for you if it comes to that.
  • I feel the same way you do. I'm trying to walk everyday so that way I can dilate and make my induction go smoother. I don't want it to be extra complicated and extra painful :/

I totally plan on sneezing this kid out.
  • I understand your fears, after my two bleeding episodes and a hospital stay they have put me on bed rest which I know is what is best, but I feel like there isn't much I can do to help baby along. I'm only 36 weeks though so I still have time. Good luck to you!

  • Why are you on bedrest? Usually after 36/37 weeks bedrest doesn't apply. So I'd probably get started on all the natural "induction" tips I could.

MD put me on bed rest at 36 weeks due to high BP. Yesterday she said she wanted me to continue until delivery, either natural or induction.
