Is anyone else not going to have a nursery completed in time for your EDD

To make a long story short- We live in a gated community. People can be real catty around here! Anyway we were on vacation in August and got a call that a neighbor complained to the HOA for "noise" such as drilling and banging. Um yeah bitch we had the contractors there working on the nursery. Our nursery room was completely windowless so we made the decision to add 2 internal windows that would overlook our great room. Well as it turns out they went to the town buildig dept too complaining that we have been working on the house for over a year (not true but whatev's). The building inspector came over ad tells us the nursery can NOT be a bed room without a double egress window. Okay fine...we will get approval from the HOA Board of Directors and obtain the proper permits.

Fast forward - the sketches for the room/window have been submitted to the town and it is going to take another 1-2 weeks to get the permit. The window project will take at least another 2 weeks to build....then the painting ect. So yeah no nursery till November for my LO!

I know that it will get done, I just wanted to have a nursery done before LO comes.

  • Yeah, I'm just lazy and ran out of fucks to give so the nursery is 75% done and will stay that way.

The room has no lamp, all decorations are still leaning against the walls, and I am so lazy I still haven't even bought the new outlet covers lol. Oh well.
Aww now I do not feel so guilty lol. Plus I figured my LO will sleep in my room for 3 months or so. That is how it worked with my DS.

  • Were still waiting on the dresser and crib to be delivered since they needed to be special ordered. My due date is Oct. 3 too lol cutting it close for sure but he's going to be in a bassinet initially anyways
  • Uhm my child doesn't have a nursery. He'll sleep with us for the first year until we move. I'm sure your baby won't notice that it doesn't have a room yet...
Not like I plan on getting any sleep the first few months anyway. If she is anything like my son she will constantly want to BF and she will not be a good sleep er till 3 or 4 months. Like I said I planned on having her in my room anyway but I am trying to figure out where to keep the changing pad, clothes and other baby needs that would normally go in a room. My closet is stuffed!

  • Crib is definitely still sitting in its box...one day we'll feel motivated enough to put it together...
  • No nursery here either. We will most likely be moving when she's three months old so we didn't see the point in setting one up just yet.

We have a crib in the box too. I will never forget how ridiculous it was too put together my DS's crib 4 years ago. I am dreading this one too!

  • I have all the necessities but I don't have any artwork on the walls....shame on me (I have an art degree). This bed rest caught me off guard and now I can't really do much and I really don't need to be walking up and down stairs now. Oh well. Our baby girl will be in a pack n play in our room downstairs for the first couple of months anyway. Screw it! :)

  • Baby girl is in my room. But crib is together, clothes are mostly washed and put away. Basically if she were to come tomorrow, we would be more than fine! Crib only got put together sat night! I put the stroller together on friday night, still need to install the car seat base. And I think, one more load of laundry and sterilizing the bottles and I'm good.

  • Haven't ordered his bedding and I doubt I will get to it any time soon. Every time I go try, it's on back order. Oh well!

  • The nursery is my room. So she just has a pack n play and changing table there. Oh well. I'll be moving sometime next year and she'd be in my room anyway.

What's up with the new window rule? Is that specific to your community? I've never heard of anything like that. And what shitty neighbors!

  • Lo's nursery will never be finished! We installed, sanded, stained and polyed new hardwood floors on the main level of the house and it took forever. Plus, DF travels 80% of the time. The nursery has just been painted and I can't decide on a crib. It makes me nervous! My EDD is oct 27. Maybe it'll happen. :/
  • We aren't doing a nursery for our son. We are moving when he is about 6 months old, so he will be in a pack n play in our room until then. Too hard to sell a three bedroom house with two nurseries!!

We live in my grandmother's old house, which is chock full of all of her stuff (and that of other family members who used the place as storage when she moved in with my aunt).  We're pretty much on standby until they get off their collective butts and come pick everything up.  (Or, until I get plastic storage tubs next week and toss everything into the garage.  This is the more likely scenario.)  Luckily, we got a really nice PNP with a newborn sleeper at our shower on Sunday, so the baby will be sleeping in that next to our bed for a little while.

  • Ugh, pesky neighbors! Sorry your nursery won't be completed sooner.

LO's nursery may or may not be completed by birth. The main furniture is in and bedding is on the crib, but there are still a few things to check off the list. Curtains need to be hung. FI attempted to hang them, but broke an anchor off in the wall. My dad is going to take care of it when he comes in town. I still need to paint a few frames and hang decor. I also need to fix the mobile my daughter cut and make a new bow holder. Maybe one day I'll feel ambitious and get it taken care of.
  • No nursery for us, either. We're moving April (at the latest), and since we room share, I don't see any point in moving stuff around for a nursery that won't see any use other than as storage. I feel a little shitty about it just because this is my last baby, and same thing happened with DD1 (we moved right after she was born).

I kind of don't understand why they even care where you put your nursery. I know the whole "you can't sell it billed as being an X-number of rooms house unless it has a closet and window" thing. But really? Who the hell is going to know or care? I probably would have told them we were making an office and I wanted it to be airier.
I would have but since they went to the town on us, the building inspector had to come see it and the room had been painted pink already. Also (not our fault) but the room was already finished and on our CoO report the previous owners never got the proper permit to finish it so it is listed as unfinished....so we are paying a back permit too for the actual room itself. Ugh.

  • Ours won't but only because I have a 2 year old, I teach at a college have yet to finish my maternity plans, and my husband is in the midst if his fall season coaching tennis. Baby # 2 will be sleeping in the bassinet next to us and is gonna love it. She'll get a room eventually...

  • The nursery is staying the guest room until LO is 6 months old. We kept DD1 in our room until then so I imagine this kid will be the same. The crib is in a box in our garage. I at least have some plastic drawers with her clothes all ready.

I've never been one for some cutesy, lavish nursery so this works for us.

  • We have a "nursery nook" in our bedroom. We crammed a crib and changing table in the nook, but I still need a glider. No idea at all where that will fit... Not to mention I've been working full time, and we still have a collection of random baby stuff, and other left over things from our move collected at the foot of the crib. I should do something about that pile at some point

  • We have a room cleaned out. The babies have a crib set up in our room along with a changing table. I've been on bedrest for 10 weeks (still in hospital), so everything for the babies has been done by my husband with me talking to him about it. Babies won't go into the upstairs nursery until they sleep through the night, so we're in no hurry.

  • Haven't even started.  We're moving into a hotel a week after she's born and moving to AK three weeks after that.  I'll cross that bridge there.  Poor thing could be potentially coming home to a hotel which really stinks. :(

Yeah, since he's sleeping in our room, his room isn't done yet. Wainscoting still needs to be put up, nothing is on the walls, furniture isn't delivered, curtains aren't hung. I did freak out for about a hot minute because I'm a FTM and wanted everything to be perfect, but that just exhausted me, so now I'm like "ehhh"

Hey - his closet is all organized so at least I have a place for his clothes.

  • We're supposed to close on our new build home in the next two weeks.  I'm due the 18th.  I might have a small start on it when he gets here, but I will just try to enjoy slowly getting it together during my maternity leave since he will be sleeping in our room to start anyway.  If he comes before we close, he'll be coming home to a tiny rented bedroom in a friend's home :(
  • The room is halfway done. It's got the crib with changer and chair but that's about it. The clothes are washed and in tubs since I won't be getting the dresser until November maybe. No art or anything since I haven't really had a much luck with finding things to go with a beach theme that I like.

I don't think I have a decorating bone in my body.
  • DH is building our crib. Right now the ends are done. Do I think it will be finished by go time? No. I'm cool with it.
