Help!

I have my first dr appt on the 30th which will put me at almost 6 weeks. I have heard mixed stories about first-time appointments and some have had ultra-sounds. For this I am paying my $25 co-pay to pee in a cup and that's it. I have already had a positive at-home test, but I guess it's just to confirm. Is this normal?

Re: Help!

  • Every practice is different.  At my first appointment, I had a dating ultrasound, peed in a cup, answered a bunch of questions about medical history and symptoms, vaginal/pelvic exam and blood work.  My doctor has ultrasound equipment in her office and does them at every appointment, but I don't think that is standard.  At your appointment, your doctor should tell you when you'll be coming in and what will be happening at each appointment from there out.  But if you're curious, it doesn't hurt to call and ask beforehand.

  • Well, hopefully I'll get a little more bang for my buck than just peeing in a cup. I forgot about the prenatal prescriptions and stuff, so that makes sense. Thank you!
