how long can early labor last?

I feel like this topic has already beed addressed once, but I didn't bookmark it and my brain has semi shut off since the start of my own early labor on Tuesday....how long will this last?!?  My contractions are coming closer together (down to between 7-10 min apart as opposed to the 10-30 min apart they were yesterday) and they're getting stronger, but it's still tolerable and by no means am I having to stop talking to get through one.  Also, I don't know about anyone else out there but this back labor is making it super hard to tell when the contractions are coming and going, as my back is pretty much always killing me now haha.  I didn't work yesterday per doctors orders, but I'm here today as it's a short clinic day and I need a distraction from this! I'm absolutely DYING to meet my LO, though I know a few extra weeks in the oven isn't a bad thing.  I'm still "only" 36 wk + 5, and my last check on Tuesday I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. 

I just need to call my ob and see what she thinks lol!! Thank goodness the office is open now, but she normally doesn't get in until 9....aaaaaahhhh all I can think about is meeting my LO!!

Im having the same thing but mine is false labor... not changing my cervix. Doc said it can go on for weeks. I really hope this is actually early labor for you. Im on week three of constant contractions and its exhausting

I had tons of false labor with my son... Hurt but not I tolerable and by 35 weeks I was 2cm and 50%. I finally went to the hospital at 39 weeks only after being checked at my appt and found to be 7cm haha. It all felt the same to me! The only difference was that my false labor would go away if I slept and when I was in real early it started at 10 pm and still hadnt stopped by 3pm when I had my appt the next day.
