help bring me back down please....

I've been "measuring ahead" 2 weeks for the last 3 months, so today they had us get an ultrasound. The ultrasound confirmed that although I'm 36 weeks 2 days, I'm/Baby is measuring at 38 weeks 4 days. I know measuring ahead usually doesn't mean a lot, but they were trying to get me thinking I could be going into labor much sooner. Could a STM please bring me down so I don't get too excited? Any insight would actually be really helpful. TIA

I'm measuring a couple of weeks behind, but that doesn't mean I'll go into labor later than usual. I don't think the size of the baby dictates when you'll give birth. If you're confident of your conception date/LMP, go by that.

2 wks ahead isn't that much and those measurements can be off by about 5% in either direction.  I am measuring head and my dr. had me do the glucose test again and ended up I had late onset of GD so hopefully that is getting the baby's growth under control.  My dr. also told me she just had a patient of her partners whose baby was estimated at  9lbs and the baby was 6 something when they were born.  If you have alot of extra fluff, the less accurate the u/s as well and she said this lady was a bigger lady.
I wouldn't worry to much about it.  Does your dr. plan to have you have another u/s soon?

When I was overdue with DD a u/s tech told me she was close to 10 pounds which sent me into a total panic. She ended up being just a teeny bit shy of 7 pounds at birth (a week late).

This pregnancy, I had my anatomy scan and a doctor visit in the same day. The doctor took a couple of measurements that the tech had taken a few hours before and got different numbers.

The measurements are based on the machine being used and the person taking the measurements. They are not super accurate.

Even if it is accurate, you can still have the baby late (which would still be on time with your initial due date). There's no way to tell when you'll have a baby. If you start telling yourself it'll be early the end of pregnancy will be MUCH harder for you (trust me, I stupidly did that with DD). Keep your initial due date as the date and just take it one day at a time.

Or they can be very close. I had one that put #3 over a pound heavier than he was. Still he was 8lbs 3oz at 36 1/2 weeks. I have been measuring ahead again. this pregnancy... and last. Nope, not excited over baby coming early. I know my dates. DD (last pregnancy) was 9lbs 2oz at birth.

If you followed any of my boring talk in other posts, my belly has been ahead for some time and baby has been measuring big. Right now I have 2 weeks to go (39 week Csection) from today and the estimate is a 9lb 7oz baby at birth. I think 2 weeks about she measured 7lbs and some odd oz already. Given my history with babies, yep, this one could be a 9 1/2 lb baby. I forbid her form coming early though. Mama wants an October baby, not 2 September babies! lol

I measured 2 weeks ahead my whole pregnancy with DS, and he was born at 38w2d.

Anecdotes aside, those measurements can be way off. 

Sorry, I am sure this hasn't helped "talk you down" at all...

Thanks ladies - basically I was SURE I'd go a week late, and this as at least prepared me that I might actually have a baby by my due date (if not a little before!) Obviously there are no clear predictions but I thought I'd just get others opinions!
