I hab a cowd. Whad can I take?

I was stuffed up all last night, I've been blowing my nose all day, throat is the slightest bit scratchy. Is there anything that is pg-safe for colds?

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

  • I am so sorry your sick! I think I read that saline solution for nasal/sinus colds are okay. But as for drugs, I don't think there are any.

  • Unfortunately I think when us pregnant women get sick we just have to suck it up.

Ramp up the vitamin C and get some rest? Maybe someone else has better knowledge.

    Feel better soon!!

  • I have a cold too! So. Tired.
  • Peppermint tea helps me feel like not a zombie.  Also drinking lots of water/clear juices/nutritious broth, resting, hot showers to help melt the head clog, humidifier.  Pretending you're a man with a cold and grumbling accordingly at your actual man if that provides emotional relief from the symptoms.  There's also something called a neti pot that the nurse line told me to try last time, but the idea of it freaked me out so I didn't.  If it doesn't freak you out, you can try that.

Neti pots freak me out too. I'm not down with stuff going up my nose and coming out the other side, HOWEVER, I do know a ton of people who swear by them.

  • Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy says nasal sprays, Tylenol, and Chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton) are generally safe. (I have no idea what that last one is)
But nothing containing pseudoephedrine, dextromethorphan, or phenylephrine

  • I've been pregnant or BFing since July 2011. The Neti Pot is my best friend. That and tylenol.

  • Awesome, thank you so much ladies! We have some generic Benadryl so I will try that for tonight, and run out tomorrow if I'm still feeling blah.

Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine. It's what's in old school tylenol allergy sinus.
