Need advice on baby shower date

I know it's kinda early to be thinking about this. But, my friend just told me she wants to plan a baby shower for me so that has me thinking about dates. My family are all out of state and already had pre planned to visit me end of Dec before they knew I was pregnant. Also, my bff is visiting from out of state too around the same time.

I didn't want to have the shower so close to the holidays but since the people I want most to be at my shower will be in town so maybe it's a good idea? Also, I am not sure the next time they will be able to make it out here to visit. I am new to the area and everyone around me is is whom dh knows and his relatives.

So my question is .... I will be 29 weeks and it will be the weekend after xmas. Is that rude to have it then?

I don't think it's rude at all. For some , holidays are crazy times, for others- it's some time off to visit family and friends. Your reasons make total sense to have it at this time so go for it!!!

I would do it then. It would make it easier on your family to not have to make another trip.

I'd say it depends on how many people would be invited and who they were. If it's a small shower with family and close friends - no big deal to do it while you have those people home. If we're talking big shower with coworkers, lots of friends, then just a few days after Christmas when a lot of those people have holiday travel plans probably isn't a great idea.

It sounds like perfect timing! I am sure your family members from out of town will appreciate that too if the timing is an issue for others, due to the holidays, you could have just a small get together for family & do everyone else at a later time.

I can understand planning around family visiting- makes sense to me! My family is planning mine after Thanksgiving so family is around.
