Success after IF

Welcome back old friends...

Morning sickness and food aversion that is.  Part of me was sort of hoping for a sickness free pregnancy this time around (assuming it sticks.)  But I already hate food and am getting nauseous.  The other part of me is oddly encouraged by this, because at least I feel pregnant.  Although I know m/s is no indication of the health of a pregnancy.  So here I sit, staring angrily at my food, hungry, yet no desire to eat.  Therefore I bump.

  • Yep. Could have written this myself. Its a darn if you do and darn if you dont situation. If you dont eat the nausea comes full force if you try to eat nothing sounds good. I posted something similar on PAIF. the post is still there if you want to check out what the ladies suggested.

  • @Ruthie04 That sounds awful!  I had bad food aversions last time until about 34 weeks, when suddenly I wanted to eat all.the.food.  It certainly isn't as bad right now as it was last time, so I don't want to complain.  But it's still SO early!

  • Yuck!! Nausea is the worst. I had all day nausea starting at 6wks with DS for 5 months! It was horrible and like you I'm hoping to avoid it this time around.
The only things that got me through it last pregnancy were sour candy like sweet tarts or jolly ranchers and smelling lemon or lemon zest.

Ugh, it's just so rough in those early weeks. I also had it early (6 weeks) and even told the RE I was going to throw up when he said he saw two on the ultrasound! He politely asked that I wait until I got home. Anyway, I second @mdiblasi10- smoothies and sour patch kids are the best. I also drank a lot of water infused with limes, lemons, and oranges. Water made me sick, so that really helped. I also saw a dietitian and she told me a little Ensure or Ensure Clear can go a long way on those hard days. Hope you get a break ASAP!!

  • Thanks @RoseHQ12 (and @imoverit)!  I've already been stalking PAIF, so I saw that one when she posted it.  I'm trying really hard to stick to eating paleo as long as I can for this pregnancy.  But I see myself caving if things get as bad as they were last time.

  • @TJ1979 I think it's great that you are eating paleo & if you have to make an occasional adjustment along the way so be it, hopefully m/s won't be around too long & any adjustments will be short lived. I think I am going to birth an oven French fry! Truly that's all I have been eating but I can tell that I am feeling better & it's time to get my diet back on track, maybe paleo is the way to go!
Lilypie Third Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • @RoseHQ12 Just FYI, you can still totally make oven fries paleo.  I mostly do sweet potato fries, but the occasional white potato is okay by all but the most extreme paleoans.  I have also made butternut squash oven fries and carrot oven fries.  And parsnip oven fries.  E loves oven fries, so we make them a lot.
And now all I want is oven fries.  Haha!
