I was given antiobiotics at an urgent care facility because I am coughing like crazy and have shortness of breath. The dr said it should be fine even though I'm still only 6 weeks along but I'm so scare to take them! Anyone ever take antibiotics while pregnant?

I did have to take antibiotics in my last pregnancy for a UTI. Before taking them, I would call your OBGYN and confirm with him/her that you should be taking this type of antibiotic. They have several lists of antibiotics that are pregnancy safe/unsafe.

I had a horrible cough and I was very sick from weeks 6-12 of my last pregnancy. I had to go on 3 rounds of antibiotics, 2 rounds of Amoxicillin and a Z-Pak. Then I had to go on Keflex in my 3rd trimester for an ear infection. It was a fun pregnancy! Like PP said, check with your doctor or a pharmacist, one doctor at an urgent care prescribed me a Category C med, which should be avoided unless there are no better options. I was so mad because he knew I was pregnant and specifically asked him for a safe prescription. But after all that, DD is fine.

Also, check with your doctor because there is a certain kind of cough medicine that is safe, I forget which one. That scared me a little so I would only take a half dose if I really felt like I was dying, but my OB pretty much told me I was being ridiculous and it was fine. Hope you feel better soon!

I just finished a round of Augmentin for a UTI and it's a category B drug.  Like PP's have said, just make sure the one you were prescribed is safe for pregnant women.

I have to take penicillin every day because I have no spleen. I have been reassured by my doctor and consultants it's safe during pregnancy x

I had to take drugs for allergies and a bladder infection. Just double check with your OB but I am sure it is fine. I hope you feel better!
