High-Risk Pregnancy

IUGR, AEDF, and Factor II Prothrombin = HR Baby + Mom

For the last four weeks I have been in the hospital. My doctor found that the baby wasn't growing much and that the blood flow was absent from the umbilical cord. So now I play a sit and wait game while being monitored until they do a csection. The baby has been passing the BPPs on the ultrasounds. But the decels are starting to increase on the monitor. I am now 30 weeks and would love to make it another two or six weeks. We know the baby will go to the NICU because of its size. This is a constant emotional rollercoaster. I am on heparin due to my clottimg disorder and history of PEs but now the baby is high risk. Anyone else dealing with a similar situation?

  • I had pree and lo had iugr. I was on bed rest and hospital bed rest. I was dx about 33 or 34 weeks but it started about 28 or so weeks. I made it to 37 weeks and lo is doing great. They did a c section because of heart rate decels that didn't come back up. Hang in there. The good news is that most of the iugr babies where the iugr is caused by our type of issues ( as opposed to chromosome abnormalities) catch up by about 2 years. My was in the 50th percentile up from the 3rd by 9 months.

  • Just wanted to say though I wasn't hospitalized, my baby had IUGR, I had GD, poor cord flow, and she was on the small side. I had NSTs and BPPs 2x a week at 28 weeks on...also had preeclampsia at the end.

I was induced at 39 weeks and she was born perfectly healthy, no NICU time. She was 6 lbs.

The lab results for my placenta also revealed I had the clotting disorder too. I should have been on heparin the whole time, but no one knew.

Just wanted to give you faith that things often work out even for us HR babies and mommies. :-)

  • Thanks! It is good to know I am not alone. This has been tough and I have been in the hospital for four weeks now. I keep praying the baby gains weight, my last ultrasound the baby only gained an ounce in the last two weeks. We tried so long to get pregnant and I wanted the big pregnant belly but at almost 8 months I look like I am maybe 4 months. Just want a happy and healthy baby.
