Thanks Ladies! We're considering the name... My husband loves it. We pronounce it Loo-see-uh, but I have a feeling different people would pronounce it differently, as seen in your answers! Follow up question, if you choose a name that has different pronunciations based on language, would you correct people if they didn't pronounce it the way you prefer?
I tend to say/LOO-shuh/ or /loo-SEE-uh/. I know /loo-CHEE-uh/ is also correct, but I wouldn't assume that was the pronunciation unless the family was obviously Italian (like, from Italy, not just Italian-American).

Of course I would! Wouldn't be rude about it or anything, I have a name with two pronunciations, it's an easy correction.

Well I obviously love it because I named my daughter that. All are correct.
We pronounce it Loo-chee-uh. I am Italian-American, my husband is first generation Italian-American, but I would still say that most of my non Italian friends assumed Loo-see-a when they saw it because they aren't Italian. Only one person has said Loo-sha. I like Loo-see-a, which is traditionally Spanish and it just didn't seem right for us to go with that being Italian. I get all kinds of pronunciations and I knew I would, I simply correct if I feel its necessary. NBD
Heck, my name is Lauren and you'd think I wouldn't have to correct people on my name but I do all the time.
I know a young woman with that name of Serbian heritage. They pronounce it Loot-see-uh. That would be my first inclination if I saw the name written. She goes by the nn Lucy.
