I'm a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast and lunch meals- with my 1st, I would have a whole grain/wheat sandwich (Ezekial sprouted grain bread- it's pretty filling) with turkey, a slice of cheese and a glass of milk. I think it would be about 45 g of carbs. I would roast a turkey breast on the weekends and use that since I wanted to avoid the deli meat. This time around I'm not as strict- but I like to heat up the turkey in the microwave.
I plan on switching it up this time around - such as maybe a chicken fajita (whole wheat) pita (chicken, cheese and a few veggies), low-carb soups, even pasta salad in the right amounts (I used the Barilla Plus last time- which has the protein). Good luck!
Rotisserie chicken is a big help. I buy one on Sunday and use the meat for a couple of days -- whole wheat wrap with spinach, cheese, sour cream and salsa. With broccoli, cheese and brown rice mixed up. With whole whet pasta, tomatoes and pesto. It's my favorite standby. Also, Lean Cusine's salad toppers are good for work. I bring the spinach in a Tupperware piece and heat up the LC toppings in the work microwave. Add some fruit to round out the carbs too.
This is bad, but, in order to get an acceptable number, i have resorted to 2 tbs of peanut butter, carrots with hummus and a ton of water. I cant really have bread before 5pm or my numbers are high. Also, and this sucks, i have to do some kind of workout after each meal. I feel so exhausted and i 100% do not enjoy eating, at this point i'm eating for the numbers.
My numbers are pretty high so I cut or all most all carbs.. Lots of chicken with salads and veggies .. Rotisserie chicken can be made into lettuce wraps. No carbs early in the day.
@agentkitten75 - are you on insulin? you should talk to your endo. I know it's so hard to find a balance. they had to keep increasing my insulin so I could eat enough for my baby to grow but also to manage my blood sugar.
No , not on insulin thankfully. I don't think I could inject myself. I will probably be on glyuburide for fasting soon since I can't get my fasting below mid 90s. I did find that a pb on wheat with a side of carrots is good for lunch, so that makes me happy.
I found found that to keep my numbers normal I load up on protein, but still have small portions of carbs. If I outweigh carbs to protein my numbers rise. So I double the protein and half the carbs. I can still eat carbs for every meal. I guess everyone is different though. Agentkitten, what is your bedtime snack?

I've tried a piece of bread with peanut butter, all meat and cheese, meat cheese and lettuce, each of those with almonds or carrots. Nothing works.

That is rough! I had a hard time controlling my lunch numbers with my daughter so they put me on insulin early on and then gradually I was on insulin for every meal and bedtime. I also worked out after every main meal to keep the insulin dosage low. The exercise can be exhausting, but it will pay off in the long run. I had to have a csection before b/c my daughter was breech, but the recovery was not bad at all. This time around I keep reminding myself of that...

Off topic but, is your first name Cecilia?? That's my name too!
Yep, I'm a Cecilia- CeCe to friends/family. Probably should be Cece, but my mom always wrote CeCe- she also put Cecilia on the birth certificate, but used Cecelia... thinking she'd leave the choice up to me. Of course, when I was 16 I was told that I had to go by my birth certificate or else legally change my name. That was probably a load of BS, but I switched to Cecilia.
My husband teases me because I'm always looking for things with my name on it. Every once in awhile I get lucky!
I have huge salads with lots of ingredients. Today I had taco salad, with a little peas, corn, chopped onions, bell pepper, tomatos, with avocados, shredded cheese, and turkey seasoned with taco seasoning. The dressing is whole milk yogurt and tapatillo (a hot sauce similar to tobacco but way better). Then I eat 2 corn tortillas on the side or crumble some tortilla chips on top.
