Prepping GMD

I have a bunch of new orange and yellow edge prefolds that need prepping.  My washer currently won't draw water when on a hot cycle, although it will draw warm water.  Obviously this will need to be fixed before I do a real load of diaper laundry, but for the mean time DH hasn't had time to fix it and I want to prep my diapers!  Is the hot cycle really necessary or can I do it on warm?  I will also be using Tide, is 2 tablespoons what everyone else uses?  I think I saw that posted somewhere once.

Hot will strip the natural oils off faster, but I don't think you'd run into problems prepping them in warm or cold.
